Seagate has owned the bragging rights for the largest single-volume external hard drive ever since it launched the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk, a USB 3.0-equipped 3TB external HDD, in June. But  Seagate's reign in the 3.5 inch 3TB market will no longer go unchallenged, for Western Digital has updated its My Passport Essential, My Passport Essential SE, and My Book Essential external hard drive lines .
