Buggy? That's an understatement. I ordered a bunch of X10 cameras for a monitoring system a few years ago. It was complete crap, worthless junk. Furthermore, X10 flat out refused to offer any support to make their junk work right. I boxed up about $1000 worth of their crap and sent it back. Anything you can get anywhere else is going to be better than the junk-ware peddled by X10.

You purchase one of the control units like the one pictured above, for the $100 suggested retail or you purchase a retail pack that includes one control unit and one remote outlet for $76 on Amazon.

Additional remote outlets can be purchased for $50 or less each.

They've not received the best reviews from consumers though. My understanding is they are kinda buggy - though last I checked was back in February, so they might be better now - and have required users to reset them regularly. I give Belkin credit for trying to push remote device control into the mainstream but they don't have a great track record for product stability.

So I'm a little confused: the picture shows the wall plug and a cable connecting it to the bulky conical-shaped device. For $100, you get one of these devices that you can plug a single thing into? So if I wanted to connect my two lamps downstairs and the coffee pot upstairs, I'd be out $400? If so, this seems extremely expensive and rather convoluted. Why couldn't you just have one single receiver device hooked up and a handful of other plugs (with the device plugged into it) sending signals via Wi-Fi to the receiver, which would then interface with my router, allowing me to control everything with my phone?

You could probably attach a splitter to the switch and then multiple lights to the splitter .. Assuming i'm understanding this device correctly

I got mine at Home Depot for $35 - not sure where these are selling for a Benji.

I bought one for my girl fiend so she doesn't have to come home to a dark house. Works like a champ and it scored me some major points ;-)
