Gaben is finally giving a birth! Man, that pregnancy was longer than that of an elephant!

I'm already sick of waiting on HL3.

HL4...the aftermath.

Did you just use Valve and three in the same sentence?

Mithril PC

HL3 or bust!

Could it be:

1) Steam, 2) Steam Big Picture, 3) Steam Box

1) LFD, 2) LFD 2, 3) LFD 3

and

1) Half Life 2) Half Life 2 (+ Eps 1 & 2) 3) ________3

Very cool. Although I'm curious how any potential 'Steam Box' would cause PC gamers to switch from their PC hardware for gaming... Or maybe it's intended for people who buy game consoles and not PC users?

It lets you use your HTPC for gaming fairly simply. It also paves the way for a steambox.

1 steam family sharing
2 steam box announcement
3 steam box design polls for steam users to vote on and even more linux supported game titles announcements

sadly no HL3 :(

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like there is absolutely no point in a steam OS. Why would any gamer lock themselves down to only one game distributor?

I'm no fan of Steam, but if they could give me a Roku-sized and Roku-priced device that could stream games in Big Picture Mode (ala NVidia Shield) from my desktop PC while allowing me to use a wireless keyboard and 360 controller, I'd buy a couple in a heartbeat.

Unless it's Half Life 3, who cares.

Agreed.

If it isn't Half-Life 3, then Valve can pound sand.

1) Steam Box

2) Game Sharing

3) ---------

Valve doesn't do well with 3s.

Hawkfriend

xD no but they do fine with twos, and game sharing is what I'm looking for

Does anyone think Steam will find a gaming home on mobile devices or does that do too much to circumvent the cut Play and iTunes wants to take? Steam Box must be part of this announcement. Maybe they are finally going to churn out another Half-Life, or Left For Dead 3? An MMO from Valve perhaps?

I thought that too, but logistically it's too much. Valve needs to focus on getting devs to release Linux games to build momentum for the Steambox. Getting Android game devs to integrate Steamworks would spread them too thin. That would be 2 monumental tasks at the same time. Very unlikely.

Although having Steam as a sort of filter for Android games would be interesting to me.

They are. Creating solid debuggers is the first of many very positive steps that will affect more than just Valve. There are a lot of work hours ahead of them. Throwing more money at it will not change that fact.
