What do You Think of Windows 7?
Posted 10/22/2009 at 03:26:09pm
I used RC version for few weeks.
my first impression is awesom, until now i installed win 7 on 4 different laptops and except for Ati driver i didn't have to install any driver.that is definitly progress. talk about easy installation, with win 7 even my mom could install new OS.
performance is very good (low memory usage comparing to vista)
media player is good (not great) but at least it plays most codec properly.
new task bar and themes are wonderful.
very few annoyments, like paint ribbon (which is very dum idea), unable to set classic start menu.
Overall i think microsoft learned a lesson from vista "failure" and start to correct things.

Windows 7 Review: XP vs Vista vs 7 in 80+ Benchmarks
Posted 10/19/2009 at 01:51:02pm
a week ago i tried win 7. first thing i noticed i didn't need any driver to be installed on 3 different laptops WOW
that what u can call progress. desktop looks neat and everything work perfectly
ram usage and performance are remarkable
i didn't spend much time with it but i dislike not having an option for classic start menu, also i dislike ribbons, it is very stupid idea without any real benefit.
i used win 98 SE, ME, XP for many years and Vista (home premium) for about one year (came preinstalled on laptop), so i have to give win 7 more time to figure out all positive/negative aspects but overall it look promising and really there is progress.

with times notebooks will be more powerfull and more efficient, combine that with portability and u have a winner.
for the past 3 years i had only used notebook for my work, net and games.
so, except in few limited cases which require a beefy PC, these days notebooks are powerful enough to do it all.
