Windows 7 Upgrade Guide for RC (Release Candidate) Users
Posted 10/26/2009 at 11:45:55am
You can upgrade to the retail version of Win7 with the upgrade dvd. You just have to do a custom install, which will put your old user and windows files into a folder called windows.old, and then proceed to install a fresh copy of itself. I did two installs this weekend of the Win7 upgrade, and everything is purring along nicely!
Infinity Ward Dashes Hopes of a Modern Warfare 2 Demo
Posted 09/29/2009 at 08:49:56am
Demos are supposed to be out before a game launches at retail, there no excuse not to have it out before the game launches. How are you supposed to know if a game if good if you can't try before you buy, just because it's a sequel doesn't automatically mean its gonna be as good or better than the original ie Dawn of War II... Might have to get the "extended" demo off bittorent, I guess....

Bing Takes, then Loses #2 Search Engine Spot
Posted 06/08/2009 at 04:02:21pm
It's going to take more than a few days to know how well Bing will do, probably be more like months. You can't know how well something like a search engine is going to do over a week, it takes more time so give it chance before you judge the merits/demerits of Bing. "Google" is a verb for serching the net, it's going to take a whole heck of a lot of time to change that. Will I switch to Bing...no Google is all I need.
CircuitCity.com Returns with Crappy Return Policy
Posted 05/25/2009 at 10:29:14am
I have had no problems buying from The Source. They are now owned by Bell Canada, so they have nothing to do with Circuit City or their old owners Intertan. And I have found their prices have been inline with Best Buy/Future Shop. And I haven't had a problem with returns or exchanges either.

Proposed Bill Gives Obama the Power to Shut Down the Internet
Posted 04/11/2009 at 02:25:52pm
I doubt if they could even do this as not only would this shut down the U.S's internet but also Canada's as our networks are interconnected, with some web hosts and ISP's using both Canadian and American servers to host content from both countries. As an example ign.com's sites are spread out between both countries, as are most companies websites. The U.S would have to confer with it's Canadian counter parts before such an action would happen. The same thing can happen with the power grids, when we had that big blackout a couple years ago that was started in, I think Ohio or Indiana, knocked out the power to Ontario as well. So I see this as a bad thing as I don't want another country in control of my internet. Our Governments would have to work together to get this off the ground, and maybe even Mexico might be affected by this as well.
Microsoft Launches Second Volley in Its Laptop Hunters Campaign

It all depends on what your doing, both Mac's and PC's can do the same things equally well...except high-end gaming. Also PC's are also vastly more configurable which requires more hardware knowledge to do those upgrades. Mac's are great if you never intend to upgrade your computer or change your hardware configs, which is also why the Mac's OS is more stable as the hardware it's run on is virtually the same for every model, the hardware is a known factor (like a gaming console). PC's with their many many different configurations, is bound to have a few compatibility issues and software glitches, MS can't program for every conceivable hardware config out there. It's amazing Windows works as well as it does.
But for me to get a Mac...it all comes down to money. More powerful PC for the same price as a Mac, with the ability to upgrade it, and generally cheaper software price's too...you just can't beat a PC.
It's like a Corvette vs. a Ferrari, both are powerful both get you from point A to B...but if something goes wrong with/ or you want to upgrade parts of the 'vette you can go to any garage or you can just work on it yourself. The Ferrari on the other hand, if something goes wrong you gotta send it back to Italy or fly in a Ferrari mechanic if you need to change the air filter say...

Why not just dig up an old email only blackberry and go that route. Seems like a step backwards, plus most mobile phones can access hotmail and gmail or even your regular ISP's email, if you happen to also use their cell service, through the built in web browser - sure its txt only but you don't have to carry around another gadget and pay another bill on top of the service you already have, pretty darn useless...
