Windows 7 Pre-Beta Leaked Onto Torrent Sites. Don't You Dare Pirate It!

It works prety well for a pre-beta, the taskbar can be hacked to add some of the new functionality, and you can do a command line hack to extend the trial period long enough to get the first public beta. It is a fairly snappy build I put it on a oldish (core duo) Thinkpad that came with XP, and it runs fine. Supposedly Sinofsky the lead guy, runs his build on a netbook, so I'm sure they intend to spec it to run okay on these things.

BTW nobody gives a shit what you think about politics, we get hammered by our joke of a press, 24-7 for months about politics, this is a tech site, don't defile it with politics.

Apple's Notebooks Take On the PC Competition

after having gone through a "Mac Phase" I've concluded they suck.

1. Upgade-ability try changing a hard drive on a Powerbook or MacBook Pro, hope you have a few hours. Takes 5 minutes on my Thinpad.

2. They don't hold up I had more problems with the 3 Macs I had than with all other PCs I've owned combined.

3. Gaming, nuff said.

4. Mac users are just like that snarky little prick in the comercials.

5. Steve Jobs

So the first EeePC was 300 bucks or less now these things are closing in on a grand. I can see using it for travel and little else. The keyboards are too small and the screen size is too small fine for checking Email and surfing I guess, but you can get a decent laptop for 700 bucks these days but it will be too big th schlep around. And Vista on this, forget it.
