Rumor: Sony to Port Firefox to the PS3

Posted 11/20/2009 at 06:55:19am

Okay...I don't need to write any long love letters about firefox because everybody else has already said it all...that said...I would rock the shit out of firefox on my PS3...hell...I use my ps3 for browsing more than any of my computers anyway...I sure hope that this comes to pass...

 Vampyre Steele

P.S. not to be offensive at all black lable 69...but the 360 has no browser because it is a shoddy, money pit of a gaming console and Bill Gates is a Nazi...

 P.S.S. I m not flaming...just stating my own personal belief...After all...It's still a free country...for now...

Ask the DoctorThe nature of electronics on
Dust to Dust

Here is a little tidbit about the nature of electronics...if there is no power going to them then water cannot harm them...no mind you I don't really recommend that you throw your motherboard into the bathtub...but computer fans are a good candidate for cleaning with water...

So what do I do...I throw them into my dishwasher...hold the detergent please...then give them ample time to dry...and before you know it you got fans theat are as clean as the day they were put on the store shelves...your welcome...

For the record...I also do the same thing with my keyboard...

Terabyte Backup

I notice a lot of people preaching RAID 5...but in my opinion RAID 10 AKA RAID 1+0 is the best of both worlds for data backup...RAID 0 uses parity...RAID 5 uses redundancy... RAID 10 USES Redundancy and parity...ultimately though...I use offsite storage as my prefered backup strategy...from two different companies...because one comany I use is based in Cali...so they could get earthquaked/Mudslided?burned off the face of the earth...best of luck to all in you quest for affordable backup solutions...

White Paper: Surge Suppression

Personally I am quite hung up on my Monster TM. Surge Protector...I swear by them after lightning struck my house...it fried my first monster surge protector...but it saved my computer...so I will never use anything but...I will live on Ramen before I let my computer go without it's monster surge protector...

superantispyware and Killbox are also two powerful programs that I personally employ and they work great beside malwarebytes and NOD32...while I realize that many may not be willing to dump out the money for NOD...I was a devout Avast user before and found that tyo work pretty darn well too...good luck buddy...just remember...old computers are never junk...they just need a little more love than a newer one...

Oregon News Team Finds Geek Squad Incompetent

Posted 09/06/2009 at 04:03:42pm

Well...here is what I know about geeksquad...I do computer repair on the side...I am a "Shade Tree Computer Mechanic"...I have a small handful of clients that like my work and know I am fair priced...amoung my newest client is my landlord...he recently got "The Vundo"...and his Toshiba Satellite was taking it hard...so he took it to geeksquad...They charged him 70 bucks for a diagnostic...and then called a week and 2 days later to tell him that they "Could not remove the virus cause it was lodged to deeply into windows"...and wanted to charge him another hundred and 50 dollars to wipe his drive and do a clean install...I told my landlord to tell geeksquad to (insert Expletive here) themselves and that I could fix it...and I did...in four hours...and at no charge...

The first time you come to me is on the house if there are no outside expenses...(AKA parts or software that I do not have kicking around...)

Final Assumation...If you bring your computer to geek squad  then you better stop at your local pharmacy first and get some vaseline...

Release Notes: My 5 Favorite Apps & Utilities, the Early 2009 Edition

You know...I tried synergy and it is okay...but to be terribly honest in the long haul it makes me want to slap babies...I have found Input Director to be much more versatile than synergy...Not to mention there is a lot more support on their webpage...not sure if I am allowed to post links...but pretty much you can add a dotcom to the end of that and come to the site...I recommend that if you are synergy user and you like to give input director a try...you might just be amazed...
