Everyone Wants a Kindle – But Only for $50

I'm right there with you. I have a library at home with hundreds of titles, both hard back and paperback. Many are like old friends. My favorite authors take a year to come out with something new. So, I'll go back and read from the first of the series over again. I must have read the first book of the Wheel of time series at least 7 times. After that, I felt I knew the story pretty well. But, I've read all the others at least 2-3 more times too.
This just reminds me of the Newtown back around the turn of the century. It was too big to put into your pocket, and just not large enough to do anything else, except be a paperwieght when not being read.
I can read hundreds of books on my PocketPC or Palm just as well (and have, and currently DO). I have about 50-60 books on my palm alone - Courtesy of Baen.com's free library. Most I've read. Some are for reference. Others.. I occasionally check out a new author. Therefore, I never see myself purchasing one of these, or anything like it. Why would I? My downloads never expire. And I can purchase an eBook that will last forever AND that I can put on multiple devices. Some of the books I have have been on the last 4 PDA's I've had. Including PocketPC, Palm, Handspring etc.
The whole DRM thing kills me too. LOL, seriously, you can download, rip or copy hundreds of songs very quickly. They're not that large. But in books, one byte = one character. 1,000 bytes = 1KiloByte or about one page. 1 MB is about 1,000 pages - or,.. "War and Peace". Thousands of books can be copied much faster - but who would want to do that. When was the last time I thought to myself, "Hmmm... self, what quiet, relaxing, or upbeat book would I like to have as my background noise while I work?"
And while I DO have many books on my palm, I too much prefer the book in my hand, sans batteries, that I can dogear, with print large enough to easily read - in both night and day modes - the print never washes out.

Ditto.
When the site asks me to clear my browser cache - ok, enable java script- ok, but to turn off ZoneAlarm etc? "creepy" is a good word for it. Guess this is one app I'll be avoiding.
Cause there's no friggin' way I'll be turning off any one of my anti malware programs just to get something that comes in many other different programs.

The Dream Machine Revealed--Part One of Three!

Actually, I would think two monitors to be pretty normal. Right now I'm surrounded by six (two 24", four 19") but I quickly found that the motion of extreme Left to Extreme right got VERY hard on the neck. I haven't used two of them since the first week I set it all up. Still... only ONE monitor? For a "dream" machine? Seriously, while you're playing [fill in favorite monitor filling game here] what are you using to look up stuff on the net', watching your video cams around the house, seeing new email coming in, etc.? (true, that's what I use the two 19" monitors (on a 2nd system for).
But I applaud the Microsoft keyboard. I had really gotten to like the "natural" keyboard layout and was shock and saddened when my black PS2 gave out during a rousing LAN of Diablo II. The G15 I have now lights up the keys nice and pretty but it's a PITA to use just like all other '102 key layout' boards. I can already feel my hands and fingers urging carpal to join them. Plus I have yet - 2 years later- to use ANY of the 18 extra "macro" buttons.
Diablo 3 Confirmed - Express Elevator To Hell, Going Down!

And here I thought Hellgate London was supposed to be the new Diablo III. But since it takes place only 20 years in the future... well that makes sense. Hopefully it WON'T be Online ONLY like HGL. One of the things that made Diablo II so much fun is the mini-LANs of 8 people we could have. With HGL, you might as well not leave the house.
But, I do hope they take some of the HGL ideas like shared stash, better graphics and First Person views (for shooting) and put them to good use.

I'm having serious problems with the 3dMark link on ie7. It completely locks up my machine. Till it's fixed I would steer clear of it.
PC Building Guide FAQ: Part 1

Thanks One4yu2c. I was just about to apply some grease to my newest Xmas build and thought I'd check to be sure the amount to add was still "about the size of a BB". Now I find it's a thin LINE for dual cores. Thank you VERY much for the link!

And that's about the extent of my spanish other than, "One beer please" or "Where's the restroom". However, lack of understanding aside, I did not see any external power cabling abilities. No extra P6 connectors required under PCIe2? Any ideas how they will stack up against, the current 2900s or Nvidia 8600s-8800s?
