Leaked Best Buy Memo Hints at Windows 7 Upgrade Pricing
Posted 06/08/2009 at 09:27:36am
The reason the Best Buy memo says Windows 7 is not just "Vista that works" is not that they are implying that Vista doesn't work or that Windows 7 is not based on Vista. It's training material for their sales representatives, and they're simply discouraging their sales staff from presenting Windows 7 to customers as "Vista 2.0." Rather, they want their sales staff to focus on the fact that Windows 7 is a "major" OS release and not just an incremental upgrade, thereby implying that it is worth paying to upgrade, and not just a Vista service pack.

Google Chrome the "Speed King," According to New Study
Posted 11/26/2008 at 06:27:58am
I agree about the lack of extension support being a deal-breaker. I love how fast Chrome is, I like the spartan design a lot (it's great for my laptop with limited vertical resolution), and it just "feels" better when using ajax-heavy apps than Firefox. However, I can't live without Adblock Plus and, ironically enough, GMail Notifier.

Grab Java, Get MSN Toolbar Free

I don't understand what benefit these even pretend to have, since nowadays every major browser has a built-in search box which can be configured to your search engine of choice. Still some people prefer them. My mom loves the Google toolbar for IE no matter how many times I show her that there's already a search box (which I set to Google) built in to the application, she insists the toolbar is "easier."

Nope, it's coming out in time for the holidays next year. :)

Because it uses the same driver model as Vista, you won't have to wait at all for Windows 7 drivers to show up. And I agree with Mr. Soper, the performance in the beta being as fast as a released and service packed OS is phenominal. I think this one is going to be really special by the time it's finalized. :)
"White Space" Sweeps FCC Vote Tuesday, New Wireless Services Coming

will finally be able to get decently priced, usable broadband? They've had Direcway/Hughesnet for a few years now and the speeds are horrible, it's essentially unusable. This might be a solution for them, although something tells me not to get their hopes up.

If you're complaining about the Vista explorer address bar, it always contains the directory one level above what your currently viewing.
People complain that Microsoft doesn't innovate as much as Apple but then complain whenever they slightly modify the behavior of the UI (a co-worker even told me he swore off Vista because he hated that they changed the name of Add/Remove Programs to Programs and Features).
