Hey MaxPC. I LOVE the Comic-con coverage, and screw all the haters. There isn't going to be alot of PC stuff there, but it's a point of interest for many of us. All MaxPC is doing is giving readers what they want, and thats what they do best. And hello! Super-Girl FTW

Penny Wise, Performance Foolish? Six Budget Videocards Reviewed

Posted 07/22/2009 at 11:29:55pm

All right, first off, great article idea! But, you botched some areas. There is a MAJOR cut-n-paste error with the reviews for the 9800gt and gtx 260. The review portion of each is identical, each applying to the 9800gt. Also, you already reviewed at least some of these cards, so why write seperate reviews for a single article? It just makes the entire thing a little harder to navigate. Maybe a description of each card with pros and cons (like in a regular review) and then a summary, where you pick a favorite or two, would have been better. You gave the gtx 260 a 7 verdict, even though back in janurary you gave it a 9. I know it's aged a little, but it's also come down in price quite a bit. Again, reviewing something six months after release and giving it a lower score just seems a little weird. And what settings were you running Crysis at? Very High? I don't think so, so it would be worth mentioning that you've got it running at high/dx9, assuming you did lower the settings. Anyway, I liked the article, it was just kind of difficult to navigate.

The Game Boy: Should Games Have Win Buttons?

Posted 06/17/2009 at 12:43:38pm

It depends on your definition of fun. I'v got an friend with A.D.D. and he is still sitting around playing Halo single player, thinking he's real badass, and believing that he's the one actually blowing up giant aliens and such. He doesn't even consider the fact that master chief is nearly invinsible and has an auto aim function. I, on the other hand, find Halo to be easy and rather dull after the first play through. I prefer games that present a challenge and smart, evolving A.I., such as Stalker. From a business standpoint, it really just depends on who will be playing your games.

The Game Boy: How Hardcore Gamers Wrecked My E3

Posted 06/17/2009 at 12:28:35pm

I completely agree with the article. As far as the term hardcore goes, I simply see it as a way to distinguish between games like "Stalker", and games like "Sam and Max". If developers want to use it for marketing purposes, I could care less. But I really think the sequels and clones need to end. I am really excited for games like Splinter Cell: Conviction, but what we really need are more games like Alan Wake (although even that game has some similarities with Silent Hill and such)

"hooking directly onto a spare PCIe slot." You should probably specify that this connects to a PCIe 1x slot. At least I assume it does, judging from the picture. When I hear spare PCIe slot I think 16x, and usually forget that 1x even exists. Anyway, cool article; looks interesting.
