New Gmail Feature is Hoping to Steal Users From Hotmail, Yahoo, and AOL
Posted 05/16/2009 at 09:51:29pm
I've been using Gmail ever since it's closed beta thing where you had to be invited by someone to use it. And I've never usd another service, (besides having to make a Yahoo account to use Yahoo Answers). Gmail has great customizing options, lots of awesome themes, tons of apps from Google Labs, and it has a very responsive and seamless interface! It's the ultimate email.

Norwegian ISP Offers $400 Off For Digging Your Own Trench
Posted 05/12/2009 at 01:24:03am
Dammit, I can't wait to go back to the states for college, except for the internet... After living in Japan with 10Gbps + internet connections, and even in Singapore with relatively good 100Mbps+ speeds, I can't go back to 10mbps or 16... Well I guess being closer to the servers for most games = really low ping :D is an upside.
The states really need to improve the quality of internet there. Go hire Japanese and Swedish engineers and get rid of Comcast. Bring over some NTT internet. Hell, NTT launched satellite internet over the Philipines with a 2Gbps connection speed. SATELLITE! That's faster than any American ISP, even the fiber optic connections ):

Missouri University Makes Apple iPhone a Course Requirement
Posted 05/12/2009 at 01:17:05am
Most people already own an iPhone or Touch. And most undergrads get a laptop when they go to college anyways. NOt really surprising they require those (well maybe the iPhone lol). But most schools recommend laptops anyways, even my high school has campus-wide WiFi, and will require students to have a laptop starting the 2010-2011 school year.

The 50 Most Important PC Components of the Modern Computing Era

Wow, I just now realized how fast techonology is being updated and improved. The 8800GTX is already considered old tech. Jeez, I remember when the FX-55 and the Pentium 4 Extreme came out! I didn't realize how long ago that was.

Top Secret Missile Defense Data Found on eBay-ed Hard Drives

This is truely an epic win. Still, Lockheed should have been more careful. I wish I got my hand on some of those drives. Could have sold them off to N. Korea for a pretty penny. Jokes.

Microsoft's New Kumo Search Powered by Open Source

Finally Microsoft is accepting open-source. Kuma search looks promising, but I doubt it'll replace Google any time soon.

Second Life Gets More Playtime than StarCraft, Half-Life, Others, Says Nielsen
Posted 05/09/2009 at 07:04:35am
How did Bookworm get on the list haha. WoW has such a HUGE percentage of that list. 46.71%! There's such a HUGE hap between first and second, it's kind of sad. While I used to play WoW for about 4 years, I finally stopped because they began catering way too much to the noob player, instead of developing more hardcore endgame content. Hopefully when AION releases in a few months it'll be whatme and the millions of other disgruntled MMO'ers are looking for.

CSX 128GB SSD

While I agree with you that it would be nice to see a lot more high capacity drives for cheaper, but that won't happen for at least an year, since the cost of NAND memory needs to go down, and until they develop better manufacturing methods, that won't happen.
