So i got the new speakers and the noise was still there. Another forum said it could be caused by NVIDIA SLI cards sharing an IRQ resource with the sound card. They were. I fixed it, still have static and noise on speakers. Make a long story short, the problem was my original hunch: the noise started after I installed the RTM version of Windows 7. I didnt have the earlier versions, I ditched the discs when 7600 RTM came out. I reinstalled XP and the problem is gone. Seems the problem was Windows 7 RTM.

It's nice to see ATI on top again. We always have this fast tech, but does it seem to anyone that the software has kept up?
