Klipsch Revives Popular ProMedia 2.1 Speakers with a Wireless Twist

Posted 11/04/2009 at 02:13:54pm

I hear you there! A few of my friends have the Klipsch speakers and love them to this day. I'm still rockin' my Logitech Z-680's. Just like you they've survived not only a couple of moves, they are still kickass!

Funny you say that...

I recently ran into a similar problem and had to dust off (literally) my old 3.5". I'm here to tell you, keep it around, not to mention some disks! They come in handy more times that you might imagine.

How-To: Install Ubuntu and Linux Apps on Your PlayStation 3

Posted 04/01/2009 at 10:17:26am

Not to say that booting Windows 7 on a PS3 wouldn't be bad ass, 'cause it would be, unfortunately the PS3 uses a PowerPC proc and as of right now, I'm pretty sure there is not a PowerPC compiled version of Windows 7 in the wild. Yet...(Muhahahahahaha...ha...ha...h..a).

XBOX360, No idea. It must be possible. Um, yes Google? I'll be right there...

Microsoft Fights AIDS in Africa with Product (RED), Now Coming to a Software Shelf Near You

As the crowds are roaring with disheartening comments...

All these programs are great things. Helping the world in a way that many countries are not able is a GREAT thing. However, I say, 'Product (Red, White, and Blue). It seems as if we've forgotten the US. Take care of ourselves for once, not the rest of the world all the while forgetting our own friends, family, and citizens.

I stand and salute you sir! Well played...

Border Gateway Protocol: A Gaping Security Hole in the Internet

Posted 09/03/2008 at 08:38:46am

Border Gateway Protocol is  a language that routers use to talk to each other and update routing tables between Autonomous Systems (AS) (i.e. one ISP to another) and has been in full use since approximately 1989 (see RFC 1105) and replaced Exterior Gateway Protocol.

What the article simply states is an attacker could 'poison' the routing tables in order to get a router to direct traffic to his/her 'malevolent network' and have a user log into their 'fake' site (for example, banking, credit card payment systems).

The fix is to institute a secure version of BGP, although all AS' would have to use the same protocol, or routing tables would become invalaid and traffic would come to a screching halt. On some equipment, an MD5 is sent with the route update as the routes change in order to verify that the message is coming from an authorized router in the network, although this can obviosly be circumvented.

Dream Machine '08

Posted 08/27/2008 at 11:29:26am

I always look forward to September for this reason. I have to agree with Haipyng, this is one bad ass beast and I would love to see a comparison (today's prices, performance) done with DM '08 and it predecessors.

There have been some detractors to the assemblage of parts for this years DM, however, as stated in the article, the DM is all about the performance of the machine as a whole, not as a glorified gaming console.

Makes me wonder what next year will bring...
