This red on white is too much. It makes me despondent and invokes self-mutilation tendencies.

Leaked Windows 7's EULA Surprises: It's Beta 1, Virtualization OK, and More
Posted 12/31/2008 at 05:21:48pm
I installed the beta three days ago. While the install went very quickly and the system seems much faster to boot and operate than Vista, I did run into an immediate issue with my Guitarport over the USB connection. The issue is there is a definite lag between playing the guitar and the sound arriving through the speakers. Quite disconcerting. About 0.25 sec I would guess. Does not occur with XP or Vista so I have to think there is some ongoing work with the USB stack in this beta.
Sent a problem report already. Probably wondering why I am reporting on something I shouldn't have. I am a team player though.

Microsoft Begins Airing Its First Seinfeld TV Ads

He's a 10. As in perfect. Yeah, the underlying message is that it is a perfect fit but will need to be broken in like a pair of new shoes. It's creative.

Redmond Offers a Peek Behind the Windows 7 Curtain with New Blog
Posted 08/15/2008 at 08:01:47pm
I see this as a way for MS to provide a sort of antithetic Vista campaign. Meaning, promise little, communicate honest pieces of truth and release beyond expectation set.
Anyway you look at it, its a means of promotion. That's its marked with doubt by the same mainstream pundits that pumped Vista and set the stage for its anti-climactic release, I find a bit ironic.

NZXT Tempest
Posted 07/04/2008 at 02:30:17pm
Thanks for the timely review. I am on my way to newegg for the Tempest. Time to move the old out of the P180 and rebuild. The old machine is still a great system for a student or moderate gamer so I will rebuild it in a new case and donate. That's the beauty of being an enthusiast. Our definition of old and tired is still quite good for most others.

Folks,
Just have to say, I have been eagerly awaiting the new site since reading about it a couple issues back. It is fantastic. Is it just me or were you trying to show the Canonical folks a thing or two by making an orange theme rock?
I look forward to exploring it more in the future. Oh and thank you sweet Zeus for bringing back Best of Best. ***** thing rules!

Daily News Brief: Mac Got Game
Posted 05/30/2008 at 08:09:59pm
Y'all just ain't right. Your sense of humor, mocking the Mac for the cooking game. I couldn't help but laugh at your twisted sarcasm yet again.
Use a Sony USB Fingerprint Reader and Thumbdrive, Get a Rootkit Free!

it seems to me that when a company goes out of its way to repeat a mistake that left lumps on its head before, there is something fundamentally wrong with the OS. Why can't the system provide a security-based API that can be trusted and robust. Instead, developers have to resort to "creative" ways to protect devices/data, e.g., rootkits. Sony's not being malicious here I believe, they are simply trying to come up with something that works. I'm not going to say Windows sux this time.
Ads in Games, is it just the Beginning?

Agree that Works is a bad foundation to test this idea. Hell, I wouldn't use it if they paid me to do so. So why not prove the validity by offering up office, word and excel as a minimum. I'd happily read ads in exchange for that.
Commodore's Comeback
Posted 07/16/2007 at 09:35:05pm
Guys - you are at your best with this review. The comment about mushroom clouds and MBA had me laughing at loud. But on a serious note, I wish Commodore the very best. I may be dating myself but my first computer was a Commodore Colt, with an 8087 processor, two 5.25" floppy drives and (I think) 640K or ram with a VGA monitor. The mouse was an expensive add-on! I remember staying up late many nights, reading the GW-Basic manual that came with it. I taught myself a lot about programming - stuff that I still use as I endeavor to learn VB.NET, some two decades later in my profession as a chemical engineer. Yes, I cut my teeth on WP 5.0/5.1 for DOS and dreaded the migration to Windows 3.0 when our company said it was time to "upgrade". I sold the machine to a friend of mine back in 1994 and he still uses it to run simple programs for his service station. I have found memories of my Commodore.
