Thanks for the list... an enjoyed read. I also read the 25 reasons that were
linked to... and some of them were waay out there.
It occurred to me that instead of perpetuating the "Windows is
better because" vs. "Macs are better because" banter,
you might have instead gone through their 25 reasons and revealed the BS. Now,
I'll recognize credit where it's due--your writeup did seem more factual, but
then again, you didn't have to spit out 25 reasons.
It just annoys the hell outta me when I see people arguing about which
OS is "better" without factual information. I think that part of the
reason for the ongoing argument is that many people can't differentiate Windows
from Dell (or gateway, hp, etc.). They hate their Dell, and therefore, windows
sucks. Whereas... a Mac is a Mac. Always the same OS, and always the same
form factor.
Those of us here who build our own PCs and are aware of hardware prices know
that Macs are a bit of a rip-off. Smart people buy the mac because they like
the OS, not because the hardware is worth the cash.
I don't own a Mac, but I can say that I've had some good experiences with
them. Maybe the reason I don't own a copy of OSX is because it comes attached
to overpriced, difficult-to-upgrade/modify/access hardware. (Okay, and I also
haven't attempted to built a "hackintosh"). I really do like XP as
well... Vista-- I never bought into. I also like linux a
LOT, it's just the compatibility issues (hardware and software) that kill me.
anyway... I enjoyed the opportunity to share my 2 cents...
Yeah! I've had my fair share of those. The most recent was when I forgot to plug the auxiliary power into the graphics card. I went nuts wondering why my mobo was beeping its head off...
And I definitely would like a standard for front pin layouts, but for now I'm fine with knowing that white/red is positive and black/blue is negative. =) I got the EVGA 680i + Antec 900's front panel connected in 5 minutes.
Haha! You had me there for a second with the first para =)
It's incredible that after decades of good business from M$, their profits are going down the drain.
I can see how they'd detract for stupidly extravagant ads, but there shouldn't be any problem with the subtle ones. I wouldn't mind the "Cheeze-Pooz" bags in FEAR being replaced with something more realistic. If it's what companies have to do to make PC gaming a more profitable industry, I'm all for it.
Yeah, but with an Ethernet cable, don't you have to have permission to access the files on the other computer (i.e. they're "shared")? It didn't make clear whether the USB thing has to work through the whole file sharing setup. Obviously it serves some purpose, or it wouldn't be on this page.
Not only that, but older PCs are more likely to have a USB port than an ethernet port.

I wonder if Job's opinion has anything to do with that fact that the macbook air doesn't have a CD drive. :roll eyes:

Couldn't have said it better myself. Completely agree with both your comments.

This card is such a great deal (newegg) right now that you'd have to be stupid not to buy it. =)

It only makes sense for anyone buying that drive to slap it into raid 1. Who in their right mind would risk an entire TB of data?
