Study: Most Americans Support a Texting-while-Driving Ban

Posted 11/02/2009 at 11:30:00am

As of October 26 it is now illegal to utilize your cell phone in the province of Ontario, Canada without a handsfree device while driving. This is following suit with at least 3 of our other provinces that have already legalized the law. In the interests of this law, some companies, such as Blueant, have released bluetooth devices with features like text-to-speech and even voice commands for answering calls. I would well imagine they are working on improvements to voice dictation as well. I figure that it's only a matter of time before the U.S. Follows suit.

Apple Keeps Fighting the Bad Fight; Locks Pre Out of iTunes Again

Posted 11/01/2009 at 11:10:07am

It is a widely perceived staple of our society that there is, and always will be, a group of immature people in every circle. In school, it's often the jocks; In automotive, it's Ford; In online gaming, it's WoW's Alliance players; And in cell phones and computers, it's Apple.

Twitter Followers & Digg Votes for Sale – The Ugly Side of Social Networks

Well, my first thoughts were of the loss of integrity towards getting realiable customer reviews of a companies products and services. But, then I remembered my experiences with product reviews on ncix.com, and how obvious it is to recognize the fake ones.

Sure, businesses and people will be able to get fake followers, but will they really be worth their weight in gold, like this uSocial site thinks? I doubt it.

The Game Boy: Who Invited the Bald Space Marine to Book Club?

Posted 07/03/2009 at 01:47:01am

Firstly: The movie was hardly without story. They simply didn't stop every 5 minutes to narrate everything that was going on for those viewers who are a tad bit slower than the rest of us. :S

Secondly: In regards to this

"So then, how come we often expect tear-jerking, thought-provoking tales from big-budget videogames..."

We don't expect to go back to the theatre and watch a movie over and over to amount to anywhere from 4-12 hours of our day, every day. A video game, however, has to keep us hooked. It needs to be able to make us WANT to play a RPG for 60+ hours to beat everything. A lot of people might watch the same movie twice on average throughout their lifetime (purely a guesstimate based on my friends and family), if that. But if I really enjoy a game, I may go back and play the singleplayer again a year or so down the road. Otherwise, it could quickly find itself in the trade-in pile.

Now, I could easily end up questioning giving a company my money again in the future because of how bad a game is. On the flip-side, I find the story absolute garbage in Spider-Man Web of Shadows, but the gameplay is quite enjoyable...for now. If the storyline matched the gameplay, I wouldn't be able to put the game down.

Just my thoughts, but I hope this gives some of you pause...

Facebook Movie in the Works

Posted 06/24/2009 at 11:54:55am

Stories like this are meant to be made into documentaries that air at some obscure early hour on History Channel 70+ years after the event and close to, or right after, the person(s) in question have died.

Crap like this is NOT meant to be made into a Hollywood movie.

That being said, Western society has degraded to a point where this film will likely do quite well, in which case I will die a little more that day.

I'm with Gordon. You can't release a "bunch of changes" for OS X and call it a new OS. I'm not sure if I'd 100% agree that 95, 98, ME and 2000 are really DIFFERENT operating systems so much as different versions of a single OS, but that's probably widely debatable both ways.

Three words: Bathroom Reading Material. Given, my MaxPC mags go into my backpack and come everywhere with me for about 6 months after they came out, but it's nice to have something good to read in the bathroom either way. ^^

Ok, when you're done scrubbing the ceiling with your nose, come talk to me. Until then, I'm done wasting time explaining why movies don't have to follow your rules of logic.
