20 Essential Tricks and Skills Every BitTorrent User Should Know
Posted 11/12/2009 at 01:16:26pm
Can anyone clarify on the TCP limit? I am using Windows 7 and when I checked on UTorrent "net.max_halfopen" it is set to 8. Should I change this to 10 or a greater number to gain better access to my fellow peers or should it's current value be left alone? Thanks for any help on this as I am a regular user of utorrent for various reasons.
French Anti-P2P Bill will Kick Users off the Net & Could Spread to the Rest of the World

Ok I understand the need for this but seriously like others have pointed out how are they going to single you out if you are downloading illegally? I use utorrent on a semi-daily basis. I do not have cable or satelite and what few channels I get do not always come in good or do not carry the shows I watch. So if I continue to download Smallville, CSI, or Dollhouse and so on would that justify them for shutting me down? I mean hell they are all broadcasted over regular channels although when I download them there are no commercials (oops there we go they aren't making money.... well I guess it will be illegal soon). I'm all for stopping illegal downloads don't get me wrong I just want to know that if I choose to download a tv show or even an unsigned artist mp3 that I will not get booted myself.
Developers Wage War Against Used Game Sales
Posted 11/22/2008 at 06:25:46pm
Here's an ideal, my first car was a used ford escort which i bought at a ford dealership (duh!) anyways even though this car was used I was financed through the Ford motor credit union. So Ford received my money and not some third party. If the big game publishers had any since they would dare I say "join" together and create there own used game outlet. This way as people traded in old games for store credit to purchased another whether it be new or used they all could share in the profits to be made from such a joint venture. Oh wait what am I saying that just makes too much sense I mean to simply band together and add some competition in the used game market. I for one rarely do buy new unless it's reasonable ( 5 dollars or less difference in price that is). Wonder what the game company think about that? I for one would like to see this I mean at one time here in the middle of nowhere Ohio i had up to 4 different stores that all sold used games and what was great was that I could go to each store and find the game i wanted and never had to worry if I paid too much. If the games publishers did this they like the others could offer a competitve price and may be able to sway some customers away all the while making a few extra bucks on one of their games a second or third time around.
Microsoft Takes its Fight to the Apple Store

Albeit i have never owned a Mac and have only messed with one briefly but I for one am glad microsoft is standing up for themselves. I think they should do an ad campaign with those of us who build PC's and simply state "Mac $1200-$2200 with a cool OS or PC with (depending on windows) more than functional OS $1200-$2200 which we can build to blow away ANYTHING Mac has to offer" you decide! Call me crazy but i'll stick with PC because I will always build a superior system for the price of their systems and for the kicker I have and will always have plenty of room for upgradability.
Gigabyte Will Not Cut Motherboard Prices in Response to Asus
Posted 09/26/2008 at 02:49:19pm
Personally I would love to see a price war myself seeing as how I have had no problems with either company. It would be nice though to get a hold of a higher-end board for a bit cheaper. I am currently using Gigabyte but am planning to build again, this time unlike last though I am leaning more towards ASUS. However a price drop incentive would be more than welcomed.
What Microsoft Must Change for Windows 7
Posted 09/22/2008 at 08:33:45pm
Sorry I'm a bit confused. First I pay lets say 100 to 300 dollars depending on what product I decide on then I must pay an additional amount to upgrade? Sorry but a while back i read online (go figure) that Microsoft ultimately wants to make having their OS a subscription type deal, whether this is true or not I sure as hell would be against it as I am not keen about the notion of paying full price for an OS then shelling out more money for upgradability. Now I would not be against say a free copy of a Windows System that would then require a subscription type deal provided the price was reasonable as oppose to paying big bucks then continuing hereafter with additional bucks. Then again either route and I'm most likely to go 100% Ubuntu all the way.
Take a Look under the Hood of Your Favorite Web Browser
Posted 09/14/2008 at 09:39:13am
How about looking into other browsers like say Avant Browser. I have been using this one for about 5 years now and tend to prefer this over all others. I have IE which I never use and Firefox which i use on occasion. As for opera (not been a user since I found Avant) and I was not impress by either Safari or Chrome ( although i believe Chrome has potential). I would like to know if anyone at MaxPC has ever tried or for that matter ever heard of Avant Browser?
MPAA Says Anti-Piracy Efforts Are Reason Behind The Dark Knight Success
Posted 07/29/2008 at 02:17:20pm
I agree with what you have to say. Enough is enough already I'm guilty of downloading movies (not any more but a couples years ago yeah). Anymore I think it's sad people do download but I will not be a hypocrite about it I've done it so therefore I will not judge. The few times I did so I still went out to see the movie at the theatre anyways. Also technically this is not Heath's last film http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005132/ as reported by imdb.com. I believe the success is due to the popularity of the first installment with some minor contributions from the cast more so than people only seeing it because Heath died.Need I remind you in 1994 a young promising actor named Brandon Lee died tragically on the set of "The Crow" however even though it was hyped up greatly it only grossed 94 million worldwide even though considering the budget was 15 million it would be consider a hit I personally do not see it that way. So MPAA think twice before you speak last I checked there are pirated copys all over the net so that tells me you did NOT success in stopping or even slowing this trend down.
