John Carmack: RAGE Probably Won’t Support Dedicated Servers
Posted 11/07/2009 at 08:45:29pm
Disappointing but not surprising. We already know they are limiting the size of the game so it fits on a single disc for Xbox 360.
I think Carmack is getting bored with PC. He's having more fun messing with cell phones and consoles (and rockets). I'm sure that was out of necessity to keep id alive, but it's still sad to see.

Do You Have What it Takes to be on the Geek Squad? (Yes, You Do)
Posted 08/12/2009 at 04:16:56am
Don't be fooled into thinking this is the A+ exam. This is just a cheat sheet in disguise. Comptia would not be happy if Geek Squad handed their employees a list of test questions and answers. This is a way for them to get around that. The absurdly wrong answers tell the employee which answer is correct so they can memorize it.
There are some extremly easy questions on the A+ but the majority are no where near this easy. You actually need to have begining computer tech knowledge or study and learn to pass. It's always possible to cheat and pass with no knowledge, which sadly many people do.

Want an Easy Upgrade to Win 7 RC? Upgrade from Vista, not Win 7 Beta

The sticker with the product key that is stuck to the side of your computer is your license. Call Cyberpower to get a replacement disc. They will probably ask you for the serial number of your computer to verify you are their customer and so they can see which version of Windows shipped with your computer. Most companies like Dell, HP, etc will charge a small shipping fee to send you the disc.
Ask the Doctor: Rolling Back IE7
Posted 02/18/2009 at 01:22:28pm
IE plugins/add-ons can cause slow browsing. I figured out recently that Spybot's SDHelper plugin for IE would cause IE7 to load pages really slow, but in IE6 it was fine.
To determine if a plugin is causing the problem you can run IE7 with no add-ons. The shortcut to do that is at Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). If IE7 works better with no add-ons you can try to determine which add-on is at fault by going to Tools->Manage Add-ons->Enable or Disable Add-ons.... Use that tool to disable add-ons until you determine which add-on is at fault.
