Windows 7 Review: XP vs Vista vs 7 in 80+ Benchmarks

Posted 11/04/2009 at 09:43:46am

Have you ever worked in an IT dept for a corporation of ANY size. Anyone worth his or her salt will just make an image once and distribute it over the network with Ghost or a similar app. Not having an upgrade XP means NOTHING to IT administrators.

It shound't mean that much to people considering upgrading from XP either. Reinstalling the OS and your apps is not difficult, even if it is a bit time consuming. Install 7 over XP and you get a folder called Windows.old where ALL your sutff will be.

How could you game with all those monitor bezels fillin up the screen. Multimon is great for productivity, or games were you need a second display for more info, but not for regular gaming, not until the bezel is less than 1/4" per screen (which is certainly possible).

That would be an awesome case to mount a monitor on. The large flat side could easily have a nice 30" panel mounted to it to create a nice looking all in one.

Windows 7 vs Linux: What's the Best OS for Your Netbook?

Posted 07/16/2009 at 10:16:03am

I hve to go with Win 7, or XP, strictly for software compatibility. Maybe Linux will give better performance, and if you dont do anything on your netbook that you cant do in Linux, it may be best. For me, and many people, Windows is still king.

I like the new colors, but it seems like the alignment on a few things are off. For example, in the most popular articles box (and the Bio page, as murph said).

Also, having the entire background be an ad is a little annoying. When i switch windows, and a browser is in the background, i often click the sites background to bring the whole window back to the forground.

Finally, I agree that the backgrounds are too white now. It was easier to seperate out content visually with more than just one background color for every section.

EDIT: I also dont like the show-stopping ads that come up after posting a comment. LAME.

Is this a manual download or pushed through Win Update? When will it be released? Is it for Win 7 now or when retail Win 7 ships?

RocketDock is an awesome app for sure. You really have to hand it for apple for including a dock in the OS. The ability to use the Win7 taskbar like a dock is a step in the right direction. I still use RocketDock as a handy toolbar (shortcuts only, I don't minimize the apps to it). I miss being able to float taskbar toolbars to other parts of the screen like you could in XP.
