Who, in their right mind, would buy a bloated, slow phone with WM on it, when there are immensely better options out there?
Intel Core i5 and New Core i7 Chips Spotted in Retail Channels
Posted 08/17/2009 at 11:23:26am
If you were going to build a PC from scratch, would you wait for the i5's? This computer would, at most, be used to play the more intensive games (Crysis, Borderlands, etc.).
Intel Rebrands Chips, Announces Core i3 and i5 Conventions

Thanks for the response, though I'm more confused than ever. I'm probably going to wait until the i5's are out and see what the response is to those.
Intel Rebrands Chips, Announces Core i3 and i5 Conventions

I'm in the market for a new computer, but it's not a necessity right now. Would you wait for the i5's? I've heard they are worth waiting for, since they will be close enough in speed to the i7s but cheaper in price and cheaper mobos (and they supposedly have a better upgrade path).
Decisions, decisions...Intel doesn't make it easy.
Intel Rebrands Chips, Announces Core i3 and i5 Conventions

Anyone know what the upgrade paths for these chips will be? I heard a current Core i7 mobo will not support the Core i5's.
Intel to Ship New Core i7 and Celeron CPUs in Fourth Quarter 09
Posted 06/15/2009 at 09:16:22am
I am holding out purchasing a Core i7 because I've heard the Core i5 (if they are going to be called that) will require new motherboards, but at a cheaper cost with approximately the same speed at the i7's. People were complaining that the current Core i7's won't have an upgrade path, but with this news it sounds like they will. So they question is, buy a Core i7 now or wait until the fall for the Core i5's (or whatever)?
This is why Intel needs competition.
Intel Launches Core i7 975 Extreme Edition

Anyone have a thought on the i5's coming out in the fall? Apparently they are very close to the i7's power, but cheaper (and cheaper mobo's). I am reading that the i7's are geared towards the enthusiasts and the i5's are geared towards desktop/workstations (ie, mass market). Not sure if this is 100% correct, or not.
How To: Stream Your Music Library to Any Computer

A quicker way would be to use Vibestreamer, but the tradeoff is the interface is minimal and the developer stopped working on it, but the current version works.
