Google Issues Cease and Desist Letter to Android ROM Modder
Posted 09/25/2009 at 04:11:16pm
Took the words out of my mouth. Cyanogen's ROMs are the best. His experimental one rightnow, 4.1.11.1, is beyond phenominal. This would really be a hit to the Android community if he had to stop. I wouldn't consider an Android phone again because of it. I may have to cross over to the dark side and get a jailbroken iPhone(shudders).
FCC Chief Outlines New Net Neutrality Rules
Posted 09/22/2009 at 07:03:06am
Very much so they do. Remeber the janet jackson bbob thing. FCC stepped in. Everytime someone swears on broadcast tv, it gets bleeped. Why? The FCC. The FCC has all the power to enforce net nuetrality, and thank god. ISP's want to limit traffic so you can't watch TV over HULU and such, or use phone services like vonage. They want you to buy their premium cable package and digital phone service. They are anti-competetive, and anti-innovation. Never thought I'd say this but hooray for the FCC.

Does the install version, or this one for that matter, still cause a BSOD in Win 7?
How-To: Hack Your Android G1 Phone

How do you figure cyanogen is not for power users? It is by far the fastest and most advanced of the ROMs. Its use of BFS and compcache and automatic apps 2 sd card is great. Now if by not for power users, you mean it doesn't have a flashy interface, then you are correct. It looks like stock android but performs nothing like it(leaps and bounds better). If you want a flashy interface, go buy an apple product.
Also, how many times can Donut be called 2.0 before someone realizes that as of now, there is no such thing as android 2.0. 1.5=cupcake 1.6=donut 2.0=bad research
Acer's Android Netbook will Dual-Boot Windows XP
Posted 06/05/2009 at 07:56:21pm
You should head over the msi wind forums and see how many people have dual and triple booted their winds. I used to have my wind dual-booted with xp and ubuntu 9.04, now i'm runnin straight win7. But a lot of people over there have win7, linux, and os X set up in triple-boot. Granted that is more of an enthusiats area over there, but it is and can be done well.
Airline Passengers Would Rather Surf than Eat

Not having Wi-Fi on a flight I can deal with, but my biggest complaint is reflected in this article. Why are there no power strips next to the seats. If there is no Wi-Fi, at least let me plug in my laptop/mp3 player/smartphone so I can watch the movies I have on that without worrying about flight time vs. battery life. It is a simple fix, at least it seems like it would be.
This would deffinately help out the netbook market, with our 3-cell batteries. No need for a 6 or 9-cell that adds weight and impedes portability(albeit it minimally but it still does). Also keeps the netbook price point under that $400 mark, by not having to add to the battery cost.
I mean when we talk about battery life on any net/laptop, what are we talking about? Flight battery length. Where else do we go that doesn't have outlet access? Starbucks does, the terminal in the airport does, the hotel does, and any confrence center/board room does. Only place battery life is ever an issue, is on an airplane. Or maybe during a power outage.
If they do make Wi-Fi a regular thing on flights though, they will have to give us outlet access.

I work as an Air Traffic Controller. The whole turn off electronics thing is an outdated rule. It used to be that old analog cell phone bands used to operate on some of the same frequencies that the aircraft and controllers were using, causing interferance and disrupting safety. At least, that is how it was explained to me at the accadamy. That is not a problem anymore.
The only reason they keep this rule(in my opinion) again is safety. The chances of an emergency happening are at their greatest during takeoff and landing. So if they make you turn off your mp3 players and all that during take-off and landing you will be more attentive and quicker to respond, if you have to.

I'll give it a try again. When I got to the page that displays the drivers available for update, at the very top of the page it said "limit one per day" though. Could be a new addition, or I read into it wrong. They did just upgrade their servers last night. Maybe they added that new restriction with it.

Driver max is a cool program, but it only lets you install one driver per day from their server. I have 14 out of date drivers apparently(some are duplicates like multiple USB ports) and don't want to wait 1-2 weeks to be all up to date. Can someone point me to where I might find Intel Drivers easier? I have spent the past couple hours looking for drivers for SATA controllers, PCI bridge, and USB driver upgrades etc.
