Microsoft Champions Vista as More Secure than XP, Leopard, or Linux
Posted 07/14/2008 at 12:12:07pm
In my experience the greatest security threat is PEBKAC (problem exists between keyboard and chair, aka the user). The average user simply does not know what they are doing and thus cause themelves trouble, if everyone took some time to read up a bit on some basic pc security (switch browsers, do your updates, use AV/Firewall, use a custom HOSTS file etc etc) then the internet would be a safer place.

How To: Slipstream Windows XP SP3 and Vista SP1

From my understanding, service packs are cumulative, so latest SP should have all the updates included in previous ones. I recall installing service pack 4 on a clean windows 2000 install, as well as SP2 on an original XP install.

A World Without Windows XP

I hated vista, got an Hp laptop with Vista and it crashed 7 times in 24 hours. Did some updates, later got sp, no problems since. At first vista seemed too different to like, but got used to it and actually prefer it over XP, assuming you have new hardware. On my old P3 and P4 machines, Xp is fine and i wouldntbother with vista. But otherwise vista is fine for my needs.
