Analyst Says Windows 7 is Not Affordable Enough
Posted 07/11/2009 at 02:16:09am
I am glad that you mentioned this. Because after installing the Windows 7 beta and RC1 I still could not install the OS like I could for XP. I kept reading from alot of people who say "yes, it's so easy to install Windows 7. Just put in the DVD and boot the computer like XP. Lol.....as you have mentioned Windows 7 installation needs to be run from within windows.
Analyst Says Windows 7 is Not Affordable Enough

I installed a Dell XP HOME OEM OS on a new system because my Dell computer died. I installed a new motherboard, new hard drive and new memory. Yes, the OS was not activated automatically because it did not sense the "original" parts, but I entered the XP key on the Dell case and the OS works just fine.
Analyst Says Windows 7 is Not Affordable Enough

The best way to save money on Windows 7 is to purchase the Windows 7 family pack. It's a great deal and many people should take advantage of it. And no...the 3 users do not really have to reside in the same residence. How is Microsoft going to check? Oh wait...they can..."IP", but then that would be illegal and nefarious. And we all know what an upstanding company Microsoft is.
Hitachi to Harvest 5TB Hard Drive by 2010
Posted 07/02/2009 at 08:14:13pm
It took me over 2.5 hours to format a 1TB drive. I would rather not spend close to half a day to format a drive. but if it's going to be fast and affordable who am I to stand in the way of progress. I never thought that I'd pay less than $200 for a 5TB drive. I remember when I spent close to $300 each on a 4X DVD burner and a 76GXP IBM drive. Ah, what fond memories.
False Alarm: Gold Farming Still Legal in China

I have never heard of gold farming much less World of Warcraft. Now I have to check these two items out.
Awesome Transformer USB Drive is Awesome
Posted 06/30/2009 at 07:53:03pm
If anything the capacity should be something unbelievable like 200GB. Now that would be worthy of the Transformer brand. Paying close to $50 for a 2GB flash drive is quite stupid since everyone is spending less these days. If I wanted a Ravage flash drive I can always attach a 64GB Xporter XT Boost to my Ravage Transformer....yes I still have all my original Transformers, even the Constructicons.
Barack Obama USB Drive Promises 8GB You Can Believe In

I remember when Maximum PC was known for "Minimum BS". Apparently, times have changed because this site is starting to report fake stories as truth much like Tom's Hardware has been doing on weekends. Lol. I also don't know why anyone would Obama in his pocket. shame on Maximim Pc for implying something sinister, sinful, stupid and strange.
Congressman Fighting to Veto ISP Data Capping
Posted 06/30/2009 at 05:40:38pm
I say that there should no data cap and we should all have access to T3 bandwidth at little or no cost. But since that's a pipedream how about getting the RIAA and MPAA off our backs. If these entities are so concerned about piracy perhaps they would be better served if they actually produced quality material at affordable prices. They do neither so the disenfranchised seek other ways of acquiring subpar music and movies. How is it that they can get away with charging over $20 for a cd that has at most 2-3 good songs? How is it that the quality of bonus materials are disproportionately related to the stars reputation on movie DVD's? The bigger the stars, the more subpar the bonus features are.
9 Amazing New Features of Firefox 3.5!
Posted 06/30/2009 at 01:50:08pm
I never knew you could that in version 3.0.11. I suppose many could consider Windows 7 as not being a new OS since it's suppose to be what Vista should have been. I loved using Netscape and enjoy using Firefox. I hate using IE (slow performance, crashes and freezes). Opera has gotten too bloated. They think that they are the best browser there is. Since when did a good software ever come from Europe? Enough said!
Acer to Soon Knock Dell from Number Two PC Maker Slot
Posted 06/29/2009 at 11:38:33pm
I have a friend who recently had computer troubles. Her desktop and laptop computers both stopped working at around the same time. I examined the computers and they had "faulty" hard drives. Yes, they were Acer, but you know what I have also worked on some of my friends' Dell computers. Acer and Dell are interchangeable. Oh wait....Dell is more user friendly...Acer is less expensive. Both can make great products and both can make bad products. It's a crapshoot. Are you willing to take that chance. By the amount of sales Acer and Dell generate it seems the asnwer is a resounding yes! By, the way....I'm going to buy a Dell or an Acer laptop just as soon as I am finished building my monster desktop rig. For someone reason after I installed a 2 SATA drives I am not able to acess my ide drive. Oh well. It only had 56GB. My new drives each have 1.5TB. Oh yeah! I am also trying to decide if I should keep my GTS 250 or use something a bit less robust like a 9400GT. Crysis still won't run well on a GTS 250. I suppose I could splurge on a GTX 275, but since I'm taking 5 courses at the local state university and working part time I doubt I can allot the time to play Crysis at high FPS. Of course I can always stay up until 2AM and play Crysis then. Lol!
