Boot, Baby, Boot! (Please?)
Posted 10/21/2009 at 02:44:45pm
I have the exact same motherboard, by the way. What about removing some RAM sticks? Try one stick at a time in the first RAM slot.
I wonder if the CMOS battery could cause this? I don't think so personally. You tried removing other USB devices as suggested?
Jammie Thomas Asks Judge to Throw Out "Monstrous" Verdict
Posted 07/07/2009 at 07:47:51pm
That judgment is about as unrealistic and idiotic as the false, media-hyped universe we are expected to live in. Message to everyone: Stop buying their music and movies. You're really not missing anything, anyway. Once that happens, maybe you'll see there's a lot of legitimate freely available content out here.
Did Opera Just Reinvent the Web?

There probably are addons which do similar tasks. Even if not, this type of setup is pretty easy to impliment on your own, BUT having it installed and seamlessly working, by default, in a browser is pretty neat. It also makes it easier to recommend to friends who can take advantage of all the features, but lack the technical juice to install and work with addons. Plus, with addons, you may have to start over if the addon goes away or development is stopped.
MPAA: Making a Single Backup Copy of a DVD is Illegal
Posted 06/05/2009 at 01:14:10pm
It would be great if a number of people with resources (lawyers who want to make a difference) and regular citizens would band together and challenge these laws. They're not constitutional. Every year we give up more and more freedoms and privacy to big government, via corporate interests.
Spunky New Lawyers to Defend Jammie Thomas

Lots of folks from Harvard have been interested in standing up to the RIAA. I'm glad to see these three have taken an interest. I'm also glad to see at least one of these go to trial. They need to go to trial. The problem is, it takes money to actually defend yourself. Money that normal "people" just don't have.
Rumor: Microsoft to Offer Free Windows 7 Upgrade to Vista Owners (there's a Catch)
Posted 02/12/2009 at 10:22:14am
I got screwed in the last promotion when it was XP to Vista. Out of the 8 new XP systems we submitted in that deal, only 2 got Vista back from it, and that was with submitting the same material with each claim. And dealing with the 3rd party company they used to process the claims was not fun at all due to their lack of response and comprehension. Since 7 appears to be a retooled Vista, I think all current Vista owners should get a free or extremely reduced price upgrade option. Vista hasn't been out that long.
Open Office 3.0 Launch Crashes Website

I think it's very revealing.
So all the I.T. people are probably finally saying... "ummmmmmmm like.. there's this great product called Open Office .org which I never told you about because you are all mostly morons , but now that there is financial pressure, I can offer this solution."
Maybe our market slowdown is going to get products like OpenOffice.org out the door to more businesses. One way or the other, I think that's great. We really should not have to rely on only Microsoft Office in the workplace.
Is a 5GB Bandwidth Cap Enough?

Just like we have in the past, we'll just have to create our own internet. :) Basically the technology is ours not the governments' nor the corporations'. If we're squeezed too far, I'm sure there will be yet another internet network created by, yet again, the real geek population out here. The current net will go the way of cable tv and we'll look back later and laugh.
Gaming Roundup 8/12/08: Good News, Everyone

I agree about casual gamers. In fact, let's stop using the phrase to describe that type of gamer?
Now about that cool t-shirt; where can we get one?!

Again Java and Flash. Wouldn't another good suggestion be stop using java and flash while they're unprotected? I saw a site I visit regularily suddenly become flagged by google as an "attack site" due to some exploit in Flash. The site owners were oblivious to it.
