Vista brought a 64-bit OS into the mainstream.

Plus it brought the computer into the living room as HTPCs.

Also, you can't blame an OS for faulty drivers from manufacturers. I've been running Vista since it was first released and the only errors I've gotten were from driver issues.

If you look at it from the point that MS allows it's OS to run on any machine thus making different computer manufacturers compete with each other resulting in lower prices, than yes, I believe MS has a valid claim.
