Microsoft Pokes Some Fun at Apple's App Store

Yes, these guys are wearing "lab coats". And they're obviously in a lab setting, correct? Wrong! I spend half my day in biotech labs and last I checked, Laboratories dont use restaurant style swinging doors!!!!! I'm sorry Microsoft, but EPIC FAIL!

Windows 7 Retail Boxes Start Arriving in Preparation for Launch Day

are you talking about the "Tests" that you take to be in Geek Squad? The ones that MaximumPC reported on a couple months back that a monkey could pass? Geeks from Geek Squad don't know jack and attempt to hose regular people out of money. Now that you've switched OS's, it's time to switch jobs. And I don't mean to the position of "Apple Genius".

FCC: Internet Speeds Much Slower than Claimed

I also am with Comcast, again, and I am subscribed as a 15down/3up yet I get 30down/7up consistently. I used to live closer to Boston, MA and was subscribed to 20/4 and was only getting 14-16down. Although it may be a glitch that I am getting such great bandwidth right now, still if i was subscribed to 30/7, I am getting exactly that. So I think it partially has to do with where you live.

RCN (if anyone knows that service) is far worse when it comes to this in my experience though. I was under their 20down/2up plan a year ago. For the first month, I got actually more than that. But after that month, it was down to only 12down on a consistent basis. They claimed that having 60% of 20mbps was considered "acceptable". And as you can tell, I am no longer with them...

And yes, Comcast is the devil Bobby!

Chinese Government Outlaws Gold Farming

At least probably a substantial amount of them. This was a huge reason why I left WoW years ago...I'm not surprised that the study found 80-85% of them to be from China. When people yelled at people blatantly farming, you'd either get a garbled attempt at english begging for more gold or just no response. Now it's time for them to get a real job or a job at all.

Mac Users Are Whiny Losers. Love, Maximum PC

Posted 05/23/2009 at 09:38:25pm

The reason people buy Macs is due to either A. a lack of research about what they are buying or B. word of mouth by another person who didn't do thier research.

That's why people hate you Mac users, you're dumb and don't know it because you're too stuck up with yourselves.

Until you research what you buy, Apple will continue to screw you on items you're spending too much money for.

And until THEN, we will continue to laugh at how Apple makes that much money off morons.

Oregon News Team Finds Geek Squad Incompetent

Posted 05/22/2009 at 04:22:24pm

Geek Squad is beyond incompetent. My friend had a problem with his video flashing odd discoloration and blue screening. He updated the drivers, directx and even cleaned out dust in his pc. I told him I'll be back in NY soon to pop in one of my video cards and see if his card is dead. He didn't wait, and went to Geek Squad, against my recommendations...

After a week, they said it was his BIOS and it needed to be updated. And because of this they needed to backup his hard drive and reformat it. He was charged $213 and brought it home. The problem came back within minutes.

He brought it back. They said they were sorry and the last tech forgot to update the BIOS. He brought it home, tried his game, same problem. His DVD drive also no longer read dvds.

For the 3rd time, he brought it back. Geek Squad looked at it and after attempting a "Geek Squad patch/fix" they deemed the drive "Half broken" as it would read DVDs but not CDs. They said they would give him a deal and "Only" charge him $40 dollars to fix it. At this point, it had been two weeks and this time I was with him. I spoke to the manager myself and said he needs his money back as you clearly do not know what you're doing. It's been 2 weeks and you have lied and gouged the hell out of him. You told him it was a BIOS update, yet when looking at the vendor's and manufacturer's website there is NO BIOS update. Only the original BIOS version. Second, you do not need to back up a hard drive in order to do so as the BIOS has NO EFFECT ON THE HARD DRIVE. Third, if you really believe the hard drive would be affected, you UNHOOK THE HARDDRIVE! You dont need the hard drive to boot into BIOS! Fourth, it was NEVER the BIOS! It's Still broken and yet you seem to have even further broken his machine because his optical drive no longer works!

Since this was not my computer and I had to go back to Boston, my friend decided to let them look at it again, HUGE mistake as it took them another month. They eventually sent it away to another company to look at and guess what. The video card was bad. Shocker!

I'm a PC and I hate Geek Squad.

Apple Trying to Out-Obnoxious Microsoft with New Ad

Posted 05/13/2009 at 01:48:47pm

Exactly, recently a coworker started spouting off how he couldn't wait to get a Macbook Air, that it's so small and that "it performs so much better than anything nowadays". I mentioned "Yea..it's thin, but you're not gonna have an optical drive". His reponse was "What's an optical drive?" And i immediately thought "Nevermind, a Macbook Air is perfect for you...". Even my father has brought up how it's so great and I end up destroying his desire to ever want one.

Mac feeds off the people who don't know about computers and thier selling point is: "It's so easy to use" Apple also doesn't believe you should ever need to upgrade a component inside your computer. Because why upgrade when you can just buy one of our newer systems! And onto security, its so secure you're limited to what you can do. Kind of like putting a baby in a play pen with 3 toys. Eventually the ambitious baby is gonna wanna get out, explore and do other things. But no, Apple says "shh shh its ok, you're ok in your pen, you don't need anything besides your 3 toys."

And then of course the breadth of software, or lack thereof...
