Hackers Create “Dedicated Servers” in Modern Warfare 2

Posted 11/18/2009 at 03:47:17pm

These are not cheaters. They've unlocked the dev console. Thus they are able to customize the parameters of the multiplayer game, just as if they had a dedicated server. So EVERYONE who joins the game has unlimited ammo or gravity tweaks, or 10000xp for one kill.

The cheaters are already out there with Aimbot and wall hacks for this game. What this person has done is not a cheat.

Graphics Market Struggles with Worst Year Ever

Posted 07/17/2009 at 01:48:14pm

Let's face it. PC gaming has sucked this past 12 months. The PC used to be a revolutionary gaming platform. Responsibe for the creation of several great gaming genres. But what now? Most games the PC sees were developed primarily for a console and either ported over as an afterthought or even crippled as a release (Ghostbusters anyone?)

What PC exclusives are out there that demand the latest in grahpics acceleration technology?

Crysis is about the only game that comes to mind in the last couple of years. Anything else?

While late 2007 saw COD4 and Bioshock, 2008 saw COD:WaW which really was just COD4 in a different time and setting. But both those games were released on all platforms. I miss the days wherer the PC was the platform, all to its own. Games like Unreal, Mechwarrior, Homeworld, Wing Commander, X-Wing and Tie Fighter, Jedi Knight, Quake, they all pushed the bounderies of the technology and were only available on the PC because only the PC could make them happen.

All I'm saying is if there are no games available to push the boundaries, then why buy the hardware

Analyst Says Windows 7 is Not Affordable Enough

Posted 06/30/2009 at 09:59:08pm

I think they should make the $49 Windows 7 Home Premium the price for Vista Home Premium users permanent. XP users should pay the $119 upgrade price to Home Premium from either XP Home or XP Pro. But I think they need to lower the price for Windows 7 Ultimate.  As seen with Vista Ultimate you really get jack for the price. They promised all these special freebies for Vista Ultimate users and they never really materialized. Also they should offer a special upgrade price for 7 Ultimate like they're doing for Home and Pro.

What is the resolution of these things? These seem more suited to replace Magazines and Newspapers rather than mobile devices.

Royal Digital Media Announces 100GB/Disc Blu-ray Killer, Supports 1920p

Posted 11/02/2008 at 09:57:01am

I find all of this very strange and surprised nobody has done any due diligence to determine if this is a prank or someone full of crap.

So two Tennesee brothers manage to come up with a 2,048 bit military grade encryption scheme and use Joomla for their website DreamStream.info with nothing of any substance on it?

I think everyone in the media has been had. First I could not find a single website for Royal Digital Media. All searches brought up links to news pieces that refer to the PR release and as we all know PR releases can be scams.

DreamStream also seems to have just been a company that offered a streaming media player.

Further digging into domain ownership, dreamstreamstudio.com is registered to someone in TN but there is a mention of Serbia as the address.

I'm sure it's possible this is legit, it just screams of it being bs.

Large-Size LCDs Plummeting in Cost. Is It Time to Splurge on That 30" Display?

Posted 10/20/2008 at 08:23:12pm

Buy.com had a 32" Toshiba Regza for $599.99 with free shipping. Got it two days after I ordered it.

I procrastinated for 4 days before finally picking it up. All the reviews and comments I could find on the net praised this LCD. The next day they had the price back up to $749.99 after I purchased it. Glad I did it. And yes this set looks great.

The cheapest it can be found now is $679.99 at eCost.
