More Details Emerge on "xpPhone"

three carriers: AT&T, Vodaphone, and Orange

That is why this phone will fail.  AT&T has iphone (and would you really leave Verizon's coverage for AT&T other than to get an iphone).  Vodaphone and Orange oh yeah they got the big three listed there who needs Sprint or Verizon.

802.11n Standard Finalized After a Mere Seven Years

Well it has faster speed.  So you could stream HD video.  It is in the 5Ghz band so it doesn't have interferrence from all the 2.4Ghz stuff (microwave, bluetooth, wireless phones).  But if your current set up gives you what you need then you don't really need to upgrade.

Will these new i7's be as fast as the current ones?  I read on one board where they are claiming they will be slower.  But will have the northbridge on the chip and direct pci-e connections.  Anybody else hear about them running slower?

FCC to Begin Broadband Stimulus Hearings Tomorrow

Posted 04/08/2009 at 07:50:23am

In what he's calling "the single biggest infrastructure decision" in the country's history," Australia Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's announced an A$43 billion (US $30.6 billion) project to create a nationwide high speed broadband network. The goal's to get 90 percent of homes and business up to 100Mbps speeds with fiber optic connection, with a less impressive 12Mbps wireless / satellite for the rest. Up to 49 percent of the funds will be from the private sector; the government will initially invest A$4.7b, while A$20b will come from a national infrastructure fund and the sale of bonds. The venture's expected to take seven to eight years, and Rudd said the government intends to sell off its stake after five years. Sure, it's not 1Gbps by 2012, but hey, they might end up beating us at the "nationwide broadband" game.

Looks like Australia going to beat us to the punch.
