Vista is slow.  Even after I freshly installed programs, cleaned up the registry and the disk, and cleaned up the startup programs it still sucks.  Vista should've never been born.  XP is faster than vista and easy for me to edit and maintain because I've been using it for years.  Windows 7 uses the same PLATFORM as Vista, but is not the same OS in any way except that it can be made to look as pretty and uses the same drivers.  Windows 7 RC is faster than both XP and vista, and has given me less problems than both.  I'm waiting for the release, but I won't get my hopes too high, since microsoft seems to be a fan of last minute bloatware.
