How about the "logical" user? He simply is not swayed by media hype, or needing to follow what everybody else is doing. He checks out the new stuff to see if it has any real benefits for upgrading, and weighs the value of the upgrade. Is Win7 going to stop spyware/malware/etc better? Is it going to stop viruses better? Is it faster? The way I see it, I like Win7, BUT- see no real reason to upgrade. Xp works just fine. It seems that Win7 has to run in 64 bit mode just to try to keep up with XP's 32 bit benchmarks (in your review Will). Is that really faster? Oh, the new features- you can now turn your taskbar into the desktop. It is doing the same thing by having shortcuts that XP has on the desktop. Oooh, you can drop a file on the shortcut and have it open- is that new?? I'm just not seeing the intelligence for the upgrade. I've never been manipulated by corporate marketing to buy something without thinking. I am still using Office 2000. It works like it should. I don't need Facebook, Twitter, or and little "fads" that the sheep flock to. XP for me- because it works!
20 Windows 7 Tweaks & Tips – Every Secret Uncovered to Date
Posted 01/22/2009 at 07:30:05am
Sadly, I have yet to see a good reason for the need for Windows 7(like Vista). What exactly, other than pretty little pictures and a new appearance would be the motivation to upgrade? Does it stop spyware better than XP can? How about performance? What new security features does it have to prevent malware, that an experienced XP user can't do already? Is there a new FAT system? Oh, and I can install, by my own choice, third party apps to do multimedia and such. Sooo, what's the motivation? I guess those who are persuaded that they are "out of date" by using XP will feel pressured. Does anyone know what "marketing" and media persuasion is anymore? Would you like to buy a Lamborghini with a VW engine in it? I recall reading in MaxPC, when Vista was about to be released, an intro by Will Smith, stating basically the same idea- what is Vista really doing to combat spyware and viruses/malware? Well Will, have you just decided to succumb? I'd like to see your response to this.

Most polls are designed to persuade opinions of those unable to think for themselves. I don't care if the entire US was using Vista, if I want to keep using XP - I WILL! I have based may choice on my own needs and requirements- something an EXTREMELY small percentage of people are able to do! (sorry, it's the truth).
