Questions: Is the fan a standard fan or is it one of the "squirrel cage" type that runs the the entire length of the "gear stack?"

The review says the fan blows "air down over the fins." Is that "towards the CPU 'down,'" or "gravitationally 'down?'" given that most mobo's are vertical?

A standard fan would be the wrong application for a cooler like this. The way it pushes air would be directly towards the CPu, which owuld be great for cooling the parts of the "gears" closest to the center shaft. But the outside edges and the lower gears would get heat-soaked which would reduce the capacity of the thing. A cage fan would push the air out from the center and across the fin surfaces, but they don't really move air all that wel, not to mention possibly blowing against any other fans directing airflow in your case.

This just doesn't seem all that well thought out. Looks slick though, I'll give it that much.

I like some of the things this reports, such as installed services and their status/authority level, plus its hardware ID'ing. If it would pull and report software licenses like Belarc does, I'd have a new full-time tool. Looks like I'll be running these in tandem.

Rumor: Sony May Deter Consumers with New Fees for PSN Gamers

Posted 02/04/2010 at 02:17:17pm

But only under a specific set of circumstances. It would have to be a lot like Live, with a cohesive, overarcing structure and unified online services for games. If it's still the piecemeal, "devs are responsible for their own stuff" approach they have now, then what's the point other than a money-grab? I won't pay just to access the PSN store when I can get it for free now.

Murphy's Law: Why Doth Apple Fear Virtualization?

Apple only believes in convenience when it's their idea. If someone else comes up with it first (or does it better), then it's against their philosophy and is to be shunned like a non-believer on the way to Candy Mountain.

Drugs are bad, mmkay?

The only thing she has going for her that a dozen other similar-sounding "artists" don't is her outrageousnes. She's more shock-value than anything else. She'll be out of fashion in two years (if that long) and when she does get brought up, most people will ask, "You mean that crazy lady with all the freaky outfits and that one song?"

John Lennon she's not. Hell, she's not even Twisted Sister on the shock-scale.

Who else has had enough of their operating systems causing their AC adapters to spontaneously stop working? I know I am! Sneaky OS's and their bad habit of sending bad code up the power cord and breaking things. I'm watching you!

Ugh. I've never had any high regard for Geek Squad. I literally laughed when a co-worked said that they told her she'd have to pay to have a backup of her Windwos installation done before they would replace her failing power supply on her computer THAT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY!
