Windows 7 OEM EULA Excludes Home Builds not for Resale

Posted 11/20/2009 at 06:23:36pm

Most EULA's have holes, and this one has one you can drive a semi though. Under the definitions they do not define what a third party is. So you can build your Win 7 rig and write up a bill of sale to one of your kids (if you have any) to exchange one weeks allowance for one computer system. No kids, use your dog. Hell sell it to your next door neighbor for $.50 and have a written agreement that it stays at your house till they need it.

Windows 7 Pricing and Upgrade Programs Revealed!

I agree with the above prices, With the prices the way they are now Win 7 Pro will not sell much. I figure if you have $200 ($300 for full) to blow on Pro, why not pony up another $20 and get the whole thing?

Elecom's Sensor-Shifted Mouse Controls "Like a Pen"

Posted 03/27/2009 at 05:34:10pm

I can see where they are going with this. If you don't get it, try this. Take a pen and grip it in between your ring and middle finger, lay that hand flat on a piece of paper then try and write your name. That's what its like using a conventional mouse where the pointing reference is in the center of your palm. Moving the pointing reference out closer to your fingers makes it more "like" you are using a pen. It is not a pen or stylus nor do i think this is meant to replace those. They are just trying to make a better mouse.

Street Fighter IV and Guitar Hero World Tour PC-Bound

Posted 03/02/2009 at 10:09:15am

Street Fighter 4's arcade board (Taito Type X) is an Intel 965 chipset PC running their build of winxp. There should be no problems porting it to a PC. More of a question "IF" Capcom is going to actually port it. I want to buy it, and I'm not going to shell out for a PS3 or an Xbox when I have a system that's damn close to what they programed the game on in the first place.

Texas Judge Demands Identities of Online Flamers

To prove slander/libel in a court of law, you have to prove that the person you are accusing of it knew for a fact that what they were saying was a lie and said it to be malicious. Which is why its so hard to prove these kinds of cases. To nail any of the posters on the board they would ether had to have been in attendance at the court during the trial of these people, or they will have to testify in court under oath that they knew the truth. That said these 178 people need to be identified and testify in court to defend themselves at least. Opinions are always protected under the 1st amendment no mater how messed up they are.

SMART Boards get SMARTer with Touch Recognition

Posted 02/03/2009 at 02:54:30pm

The SMART boards that I work on use a set of cameras to triangulate the position of your finger, or whatever you are pointing at the screen to give you control of the mouse cursor. It seems to me that these same cameras should be able to recognize a size change of the pointing object by noticing a uniform change of distance from the pointing object in all three cameras. If that is the case, then current SMART boards could be changed to take advantage of this new touch recognition with a software update.

But I rather hook my peripherals by normal civilian interfaces like USB. ITT Cannon plugs are costly to repair let alone buy new bundles if you break off a pin or 2.
