I agree with some of the responses on their site: that the tattle tale gloated about getting the person fired and the reason he tattled was that it was easy.

I think in the end thet tattler will be fired or sued. He will not emerge from this unscathed.

This contempt for the customer that has already paid for the license is what drove me to Linux five years ago.  I happily paid for my Windows licenses, but I also changed hardware a few times a year and formatted every six months.  MS' attitude was clearly "Hey, we know this is a hassle for you honest folks, but really, what are you going to do about it? We're the only game in town so you'll suck it up."  Meanwhile the pirates were unemcumbered.  Thanks for the respect MS. 

 Certainly my defection is meaningless in changing things, but at least I'm not one of the peons that must bow and request permission to use something they already paid for.

A lot of people are custom building PC's now. Also it is not like the lower priced PC's are going to hurt their pocket any. If it was really hurting them, they would get out of the business. They just won't be able to take the big hunk of change they wanted for the crap they put into their PC's.

There is an easier way to your problem and it's integrated right in Windows since Windows XP (maybe even older)

It's part of the disk cleanup utility. Simply right click a drive > properties > disk cleanup. Wait a bit until the new window appears then more options tab >  clean up... button in system restore section. Clicking this button deletes every restore point but the last one. Safe & practical.

What happens if disk 1 has a problem? You don't lose 500GB of data, you lose 1TB.

Not to sound like a pompuous ass, but once you step up to higher levels of the computer world and you progress as a computer technician you learn something that is extremely valuable: Simple is better. The simpler you can do the better it is. Sometimes it's worth spending a bit more to sleep well at night or just keeping things simple. :)
