Did Twitter Sink Bruno at the Box Office

Posted 07/14/2009 at 04:15:42pm

While I have no doubt that the ability to broadcast an instantaneous review to a social network can impact potential viewership, it’s sadly not much of a match for the Hollywood hype machine, yet. The image in this article is dead on, Sacha Baron Cohen is just old news.

If social network communication like Twitter was really having a serious impact on ticket sales for bad movies, there’s no way Transformers 2 would have seen an increase.

Dell Catalog Shows Mini 10 Evolution Shipping this Month

The real question is "Will they switch over to an upgradable memory scheme, or are they still planning to shackle Mini 10's with 1GB?"

It's the only thing stopping me from buying one right now. :/

Fallout: New Vegas Aiming for 2010, Helmed by Fallout Veterans

Posted 04/22/2009 at 12:31:24am

I moved to Las Vegas a few months ago from a nearly 15 year stretch in NYC. I've seen more shady dealings, police activity, and creepy nutjobs here than i ever did back in the Big Apple. I happened upon a corpse (in a Home Depot -_- ) the first day i moved here.

No need to kid, the fear is totally justified. Heh.

Fallout 3

Definitly have to agree with the glitch factors. You can so easily get pulled into the world, really start to hit your stride, and then some idiotic glitch just yanks you straight out of that immersion. By the time i had finished Fallout 3 i had over 1400 saves. I was bitten so many times by glitches just undoing my progress that i just started habitually saving every time i made an important decision, drastically altered my inventory, fired a risky shot, etc. That constant worrying and removal from the game stride really hurt the experience for me.

No "Ultimate Extras" in Windows 7 Ultimate

Posted 02/09/2009 at 03:23:25pm

I must be missing something here...

Windows 7 Professional contains all the features of Windows 7 Home Premium plus a few more features.

Windows 7 Enterprise contains all the features of Windows 7 Professional (which contains all the features of Home Premium) plus a few more features, but is only available in volume licenses.

Windows 7 Ultimate contains all the features of of Enterprise (which contains all the features of Professional (which contains all the features of Home Premium)) with no new features or general retail availability, is only available during special promotional periods, and costs more?

This seems to be a redundant question these days when it comes to Windows but... what exactly is the point of Ultimate?

Maybe they should just call it Windows 7 You Won A Promotional Prize Here's Your More Expensive Than Enterprise Edition.

Google Reader gets how-to Videos

To be honest, i've come to love the simple sidebar RSS viewer in Vista. If the headline grabs my attention i just fire it up and read the whole thing from it's source website. Windows Live Mail grabs them all for me too, but more often then not i just find myself clicking "Mark all as read".

New Law Says Tennessee College Networks Must Filter P2P Traffic

The RIAA has proved over and over that they are nothing but a pack on anachronistic, greedy, scumbags. I'm kind of amazed that there hasn't been any kind large-scale retaliation attempt against them for all the BS they've pulled. How long do they think they can hold off progress? It's the 21st century you jackasses, get with the program.

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Now Official with Specs and Pricing

Posted 09/04/2008 at 03:48:34pm

It's certainly enticing, that's for sure. I use a Dell XPS M1210 when i travel and while i love the size, for bumming around NYC I'd love to jump down to something even smaller as long as it can handle the basics. These Mini's look like a great option but i have to agree with skhills, the 16GB HD is a deal breaker. Doubling to just 32GB would probably be enough to put my finger on the trigger but as is, it's sadly not a real option.
