Google should buy my children...they're brilliant and want to be able to take care of their poor old parents in the years to come! :)

World of Goo Turns One, Goes on Sale for… Whatever You Want to Pay

Just to test this out, I indeed ordered one for $0.01 ... and the download was corrupted.

I realize that they are being slammed right now (even the d/l sites are posting error messages asking to 'try again later') so I'll keep trying for a day or so...and if I can actually get it for a penny, I'll go back for another copy or two as gifts and 'donate' substantially more for each of them.

NewsWindows 7 likely to replace XP & Vista for us on
Survey: XP Users Keeping an Open Mind about Windows 7

Posted 08/17/2009 at 07:06:21pm

We've been using Windows XP since day one and have been reluctant to move on to Vista as it just didn't offer enough of a performance change to begin with...Yet with SP1 serving up many missing drivers and OEM support steadily growing we decided to go ahead and run a few Vista Enterprise & Ultimate systems and have been quite pleased with the results.

However we still weren't looking to flat out replace equipment or OS's en masse regardless...still wasn't necessary.

That being said, we've been testing Windows 7 (beta & RC1) from day one...and frankly, I'm impressed with what we've seen so far.  We've run Win7 on desktops and laptops from PIII's to Pent D and found a surprising INCREASE in performance while cpu cycles seems to be winding down, causing cooler more efficient systems. So we may in fact upgrade OS's in the near future just to save from having to replace aging equipment any sooner than we have too. (Economics rule no matter what).

Bottom line...if the final release of Windows 7 is at least as good as what we've been testing, we'll be open to consider it as a viable replacement for all the workstations in this company.

Google OS Finally a Reality

Posted 07/08/2009 at 07:13:29pm

I think the thing I'm most surprised about this whole thing, is that the responses here have been so few!

A minor undertaking by 'LittleJoe's Computerama" into the OS game would at least get a mass of cynical replies...but when the biggest techno driving force on the planet, who claims to want every bit of every person on the planets data in a db under their control, decides to toss their hat into the one place that could make that a reality...**crickets chripping**

The most 'noise' I've heard about this today stems from the financial community as they try and figure out how to make the most money off this venture (See Money Matters on MSNBC.com). Capitalism at it's best...woot!

Maybe 'resistance IS futile!' after all!!

GameStop Study Claims Game Downloads Won’t be Viable Until 2014

Posted 06/22/2009 at 02:05:37pm

In sunny southern California, EB Games and GameStop have virtually given up selling PC games...so where are they getting their info? Not from peeps who actually buy PC games; as for me, I've not purchased a retail package from a store for a couple of years now. (with the exception of some OLD games purchased for ghetto dayz from Amazon or GoGamer.com)

News"Why use eMail when I have the Post Office?" on
Many Without Broadband Don't Want It

Posted 01/23/2009 at 06:19:40pm

One of the larger groups of people still not utilizing the internet has got to be "senior citizens" (as I work with, and around hundreds of the over 65 crowd, I can speak from personal experience)

However, one of the fastest growing groups of people to enter into the emailing frenzy that is the internet, again in my personal experience...yep! That same group of over 65'ers.

It's a strange phenomenon. They are deathly afraid of the great unknown beast that is 'cyberspace' and yet are eager to embrace it once someone flicks on a light and shows them there is a great deal of useful stuff in the cyber universe -- and once a close friend gets it going...all his/her friends have to know about it! (Usually all it takes for me is to show them how fast a grandson/daughter answers a twitter, email, facebook posting, etc and they WANT THAT CONNECTION NOW!)

So the long and the short of it, if the infusion of cash into public technology includes training for all the various groups of people that have not inched/merged their model T's or 'lovebugs' onto the super highway, then we should continue to see an amazing number of people continuing to come online.

Stargate Worlds MMO Lacking Credits Needed to Continue?

Posted 12/08/2008 at 03:08:27pm

Well, at the risk of violating my NDA wth CME and others, I need to say that it would definately be a shame if this MMO never sees the light of day -- beyond the pre-beta, beta, & public beta that it's gone through so far.

Yes, I'm testing for SGW and have been since the beginning when I was one of the first 50 'outsiders' (User #26) allowed to "step through the gate." And since day one...it's been a helluva fun & wild ride!

The gameplay, storyline, graphics, etc...all premium quality, with an attention to detail AND to the fan base/players suggestions...CME and Firesky have an absolute WINNER in my humble opinion and if they can weather out the financial storm, SGW will make a lot of players and fans AND investors, very happy.

Lala Opens to the Public Today, Is Music to Our Ears

Posted 10/23/2008 at 02:06:57pm

I was just curious if anyone else is using www.Pandora.com ?

I've been listening to several different 'stations' made up of my own personalized mixes, ever since my son turned me onto it several months ago.

I'll look into Lala.com, but I tend to doubt that I'd give up my completely free streaming music, that can change as my mood changes, and still offers me the opportunity to purchase songs/albums IF I want them...and without any 'nag screens' to boot!

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic MMO-Splosion -- "Biggest BioWare Game Ever Made"

Posted 10/22/2008 at 02:16:23pm

Well, all the junvenile remarks aside, I'm looking forward to another unique offering from the Star Wars EU (Extended Universe), and would like to know if there's been any word on how to sign up to become an early Beta tester? (I participated in SOE's Star Wars Galaxies beta and loved the whole experience and even played for three years after the release...was disappointed that SOE changed the game I PAID FOR several times so that it looks and feels nothing like what is now known as "Pre-CU" SWG)

I'm willing to give BioWare and Lucas Arts the benefit of the doubt that they've learned what the real fan base is looking for and will provide a product to reach the faithful.

As an added note, I find it strange that the majority of the drival that has been posted points to this being a KOTOR release, when in fact BioWare plainly states that this is to be set uniquely in a time period hundreds of years AFTER KOTOR and three and a half millennia BEFORE "A New Hope."

May the Force be with you...Always!
