Rumor: Nvidia Assembling x86 Team
Posted 11/04/2009 at 07:25:07pm
I can't tell you how many times i have been talking about and hoping for 3 platforms.
Intel
AMD/ATI
Nvidia
None of those companies are going away anytime soon. and more competition is just going to be better for the consumer.
interesting how AMD had mentioned "platforms" a couple years back. I think it is starting to mean something now.

if there was ever a time AMD were to do the same thing, then they would get the same response as now with intel.
the point is that they haven't done it, if/until they do we don't have a problem with them right now. Right now it is intel who is doing bad business practice.

they seem to have money to throw around. It makes $1 billion seem like a drop in the bucket

and intel sells alot

plus they are like 80% of market share?
they would not want anyone invading their turf. I think if given the choice they would rather be a monopoly

They don't want AMD to recover, they dont want Nvidia making chipsets or processors (using VIA) and they probably want to kick them out of graphics.
again, i would love to see 3 platforms
intel, AMD, nvidia with a lot of mixmatching of vidcards, chipsets, and processors

Is the Sega Dreamcast the Biggest Tech Flop of the Past Decade?
Posted 07/17/2009 at 06:09:12pm
sega had some interesting ideas, but they were terrible with business (and still are maybe).
sega genesis had a 56k modem hook up for online play (never took off)
they released the dreamcast a little after playstation was introduced (as the sega saturn failed against it) but the sega saturn first used cds for games (i believe)
memory cards for dreamcast would allow you to do mini games
and so on and so forth
