Exclusive Interview: Microsoft Admits What Went Wrong with Vista, and How They Fixed It
Posted 06/27/2009 at 06:34:36am
I waited until SP2 was released before taking the Vista plunge.I had my pc downgraded to xp untill Vista got better with SP2, I don't have a top of the line computer... Hp Pavilion made in 2007, AMD 64 3500 2.2ghz single core cpu, 2gb of ram, NVidia 6100 GPU, It has a score of 3.0 and It runs really good. XP is old and doesnt have as great as security and support as Vista does.I will go on to Windows 7 later on after SP1 comes out before switching.

I am happy with Vista right now...it's still in mainstram support untill April 2012.I will upgrade later on only when I will have to,Also I won't go with a new os at first it needs to mature a bit and aleast get a service pack.

Personally I think that the differences between Vista sp2 and Windows Seven are small.

I will still be using Vista! (I'm not hating on Windows Seven....I'm just saying why move on with something because its newer and what you have now works fine and is still in support for 2 and a half years)... Due to already having a computer that came preinstalled with vista (which I had downgraded to Windows xp untill Vista came out with sp2 then wiped out xp and installed Vista back) Vista having two and a half year's under it's belt its much improved (with two service packs its been around for a while) Windows Seven when it is relased will be new and have no service packs, I don't care what people say every os Microsoft has made has had bugs and faults untill it get's aleast a service pack... also on that note there won't be much sofware and games and hardware out for Windows Seven because of it being so new, Wait for aleast a year or so before going with a os... It will save you some headaches. If Vista is working for you there's no reason to go with something just because it's newer... I'll wait till Vista ends support in 2012 before going with Windows Seven by then Windows Seven will have two year's under its belt. (gets better with age)
Microsoft Releases Vista Service Pack 2

I was a Windows XP holdout but I now enjoy the improvements made to Vista. It is so much better now! never would I go back to XP... Vista is as stable as Windows XP sp2 is... (Remember when xp came out it sucked and didnt get to where it is today untill it came out with sp2, same goes for Vista...I will be holding out on Windows Seven untill it gets sp2 as well, We all know from Microsoft's track history every os they came out with at first of release has some sort of bugs and compatibility issues.)
Microsoft Releases Vista Service Pack 2

windows vista is expected to have just as long of a life like any other os, its end of mainstream support ends in april 2012.That's 5 years of support.Plus micosoft is coming out with a new os every 3 yrs for now on.As far as xp goes when it was first released it was as buggy and bad as vista was, It didn't get better till sp2 came out same goes for vista, and probably the same will go for windows seven, The only thing being phased out is xp its in extended support and its getting old.The US Army is having to switch to vista by a deadline of Dec 31 2009 because of xp being so outdated and prone to security.
Microsoft Releases Vista Service Pack 2

I have been using xp and was waiting on microsoft to release sp2 for vista... when it did I upgraded to vista and been using it for a few days now I would not go back to xp, before sp1 for vista it was awfull I then switched back to xp and waited to see if sp1 would fix things it was better bit still not there yet like xp sp3 was,Now after sp2 for vista finally released I have to say it's right now! (as stable as xp was in it's old age) As for windows seven goes I won't make the same mistake twice I'll wait till it gets a few service packs under its belt before swtiching.I think we all learned our lesson not to go with a new operating sytem at first and to wait to it matures a bit. Vista is suppose to end support in 2012 then I'll switch to windows seven...hopefully by then it will have sp2 out.
