Mozilla Prepares Firefox 3.5 for Possible Tuesday Release
Posted 06/28/2009 at 03:01:28pm
I have been using the Beta and RC as my main browser on both Win 7 and XP and I have to say that as with all Mozilla releases it is very well polished nad r5uns great no matter what the PC is running. I really like the addition of being able to tear tabs off of one browser windows and making it into another window, this is a feautre I like to use when working on a machine with multiple monitors as it can make it easier to do homework projects and other stuff.
I haven't noticed any kind of change in speed, it has gotten to the point that any speed increase wouldn't be noticed by the human eye anymore.
Hulu's Free Ride May Soon be Over
Posted 06/04/2009 at 10:42:14pm
LIVE TV!!! Tv.com was able to do it during the NCAA March Madness Tourney so Hulu should be able to do it. By doing this they go straight for TV's jugular. By offering live news Like CNN, MSNBC, and other "local" stations they can really hit a large market of people. From there you could use Hulu Desktop to record these live events for you to watch at your own leisure. By doing this Hulu woul ultimately bring TV to the internet full time. I really hope that this an idea that they are following they could make a truckload and become the google of video very quickly.
Hulu Launches Hulu Labs With New Desktop Client
Posted 05/31/2009 at 02:57:10am
I have been waiting for some time now for Hulu to finally release something like this. No longer do I need my application shortcut through Chrome to get a sleek Hulu interface. This really is a big selling point for Media Center PC's as most of the popular shows are boradcasted on Hulu. What would be even nicer is if they setup sometihng where youc can setup a favorites list or a show bookmark so that it can be easier to find a certain series that you watch often, etc. Hulu is slowly turning into the Web Video monopoly......
USB 3.0 Blazing Speeds Only Theoretical, For Now
Posted 01/11/2009 at 12:07:35am
Unfortunately until the read and write of drives increase's we won't ever see the full potential of USB. Right now SSD's have a read time of only 77 mbs. and a write time that is lower. It won't matter if the cable can transfer more than that. It depends on how quick it can receive the data to transfer.
We have yet to reach the full potentail of IDE or SATA.
White Paper: Virtual Machines
Posted 01/01/2009 at 05:43:30pm
Virtualization is a new wave for the future. This is great for buisness and schools where they can buy one super server like a Nvidia Tesla, etc. And from there virtualize it out to users and have them each run their own operating system windows witout have a full computer. That kind of technology is still a little while away.
Britain Considering Film-Style Content Ratings for Websites
Posted 12/30/2008 at 03:10:32am
It seems like a dandy of something to do on paper, but can't possibly be workable in real world internet and computing. For example what rating would you give websites like Hulu, Youtube, Invision, etc. They all have streaming media that can be considered from rated G all the way to rated Adult. Do you change it for each website page based on what content that single page holds...no. It would cost wayy too much as it would increase te bandwidth needed for that site greatly with all the extra lines of code to display the message, etc. It would be a logistical mess and US the tax payers would have to foot that bill also.
Bad idea, stick to movies, music and games..........
Mozilla Launches Fennec Alpha 2 – Is This the Safari Killer?
Posted 12/29/2008 at 12:44:20am
It;s only a matter of time until Firefox starts to gain a good market control within the mobile browser. If it is as good as the regualar browser, then it is sure to be a great hit. Watch out Apple.
Nvidia Announces Ion Platform for Netbooks
Posted 12/19/2008 at 09:36:22pm
By using the Intel Atom base the size of chassis and such wouldn't change it would still be a netbook when it comes to size. But like you stated. One could expect a lower battery life and more than likely higher heat production from the integrated graphics chip. Should be interesting on the price of a netbook with these type of specs.
Nvidia Announces Ion Platform for Netbooks

I don't think that this platform will offer being able to play modern games like COD4. Who would even want to play a game like that on such a small screen?? It will help for th casual gaming market, as it can play online games like Quake Live, etc.
Should be interesting to see if it holds up to the standard that they are saying will happen.
