Leaked Photos of the Radeon HD 5970 Dual-GPU Card Emerge

Posted 11/01/2009 at 07:35:29pm

The only way I can think of offhand is an abomination of a case involving a Storm and an accordian borrowed from Weird Al Yankovich.  That's the clean version.  The unclean version involves 4 pneumatic penis implants from your local doctor...

Apple Keeps Fighting the Bad Fight; Locks Pre Out of iTunes Again

Posted 10/30/2009 at 09:08:21pm

I say create it as a counter-play.  Have an error message stating that Apple will not allow customers to access their accounts.  Don't go into the whole legal mess, just point the finger and tell people to complain to the one company that can allow them access to iTunes again.

Make them the bad guy.  Apple loves to say how great its' software is--just have people understand that Apple's software is not allowing them to legally use a publicly accessible website.  Apple will cave only if they look so incredibly inept and stupid that it hurts their image.  So tarnish it.

MediaFire Not Too Happy About Skipscreen Firefox Add-on

Posted 10/08/2009 at 09:10:14pm

I've been using this addon for awhile, and thoroughly enjoy it.  Computers are there to automate mundane tasks that no human being in their right mind wants to sit through.  I fast forward through the commercials on the DVR, too.  Guess it's a good thing MediaFire doesn't own any television stations.

Netgear’s Open Source Router Available Soon for your Tweaking

Posted 10/06/2009 at 09:04:26pm

I think it's a smart move on their part, especially since it gives users a substantial amount of lattitude on how they want to configure their router.  Better, it leaves open possibilities that other companies want to take on that a larger company might not--especially with niche market applications.

The case is nothing less than sculpted elagance; it is a visual feast for the senses that is without doubt the most artistic cases ever designed.  Surely there are more capable cases for cooling the components, cases that can offer more drive bays, systems that are easier to carry around.

None can match the deliberate lines and natural grace offered in this design.

This is for people who require a piece of art in their home office, and will pay top dollar for something that carries sophistication rarely seen in computer hardware.  Looking at this case is like comparing any modern high-end enthusiast case to the ancient beige boxes from years ago.

Never has a computer case left me awestruck by its' very beauty; I don't know if I will witness this level of sophistication again.

Liquid OLED Technology Brings Flexible Displays One Step Closer

Frankly, I've been reading about stuff like this for years.  Come to me when there's a product, because engineering proofs may as well be vaporware.  Do I see useful application of this technology?  Absolutely, who wouldn't?  But they've been saying how they have had breakthroughs in this technology for years--and as of yet I don't see any working products.

The 16 Most Essential Firefox 3.5 Add-ons

Posted 08/12/2009 at 10:32:24pm

Two must-haves for me include Image Zoom, and Download Statusbar.

Image Zoom gives you the ability to enlarge/shrink an image on a webpage--particularly good when you get those cell phone pictures that were formatted in 200x300 pixels and you can't tell WHO your sister was dating now.

Download Statusbar is a very attractive add-on that does away with the pesky and cumbersome default window when downloading files with something sleeker and far more user-friendly.  It adds a small bar graph in the bottom bar of FireFox showing how much of the file has been (and needs to be) downloaded.  You can customize it to show the current download speed, percentage complete/remaining, and a few other minor tweaks.  This takes file downloads to a much more managable level, as you don't require another window (the default FireFox downloader) and can observe at a glance the status of any number of downloads.

There's certainly more I love, but I thought I'd mention two that don't get enough face time with the public at large.

The Game Boy: From Space Invaders to Mothership Zeta – Why Videogame Aliens Suck

Posted 08/05/2009 at 05:33:11pm

This is the single most disappointing thing in games today.  It is always a clear-cut case of 'good guys vs bad guys' without any shade of grey.  There may be a plot twist, but nothing that makes you question the overall story itself.  I love FPS games, and there is so much promise in a good story there--and sadly all we do is play a relentless game of cowboys and indians with the same lackluster attention to the details of the real conflicts.

I'm sorry to say that action games focus so much on action (with the 'twist' moniker) that there is no depth to the story at all.
