Brando's "Tube Delight" isn't What You Think

"with a fade-in-out blue LED for power-on and idle status indication". From that line alone, it inidicates that while there's audio going through the sound device, the LED is off. So while you're gaming, there's no LED on.

EVGA Launches X58 SLI Micro Motherboard

Posted 07/02/2009 at 03:38:15pm

You know, for a gaming rig that's about all you need. Onboard audio is fine, you've got SLI, and enough SATA and USB ports to satisfy the majority of people.

Now all we need is an AM2=/AM3 platform with Crossfire and those of us in camp AMD will be happy

AMD Will not Engage Nvidia in Battle

Posted 07/02/2009 at 03:11:29pm

I ran a pair of Radeon x1950 Pro's for about 4yrs before I moved on to a pair of brand new 3870's for dirt cheap! I find the bang for buck ratio to be much better with Team ATI than Team nVidia. Sure, nVidia has a card that performs amazingly amazing, but you'll also pay through the nose, plus both kidneys for it. And even then, ATI's cards use newer, smaller, faster and less power hungry components and achieve almost the same results.

I've been a fan of ATI/AMD for years, and am glad that I've stuck with them. Heck, ATI used to be Canadians, so even more reason to support them, gotta support homegrown business.

Rumor: Nvidia to Refresh GT200 with DirectX 10.1 Support

Posted 06/26/2009 at 05:05:41pm

And with DX11 around the corner, does nVidia finally adopt DX10.1... good thinking there boys!

Adopting DX10.1 late in the game, refusing to use GDDR5, or going to a smaller fab. process on their GPU's... Ya, great forward thinking there Team nVidia. I'll just stick with ATI thankyouverymuch!

Facebook Movie in the Works

This is so flucking stupid! I hope that it bombs so badly at the boxoffice, that it gets pulled from theaters, and no one wants to pirate it. This is just sad... so very sad...

Apple Offers $30 Apology for iPhone 3G S Activation Woes

This is one (of many) reasons why I avoid Apple products altogether! I've never had or heard of any problems activating a G1 phone, or even a Windows Mobile phone... Good job Apple. Now, when the next rendition of the iCrap comes out, we can do this sad song and dance all over again!

Windows 7 Feature Focus: Windows Media Center

Posted 06/22/2009 at 03:45:14pm

I've been using Windows 7 on my HTPC since RC came out and I love it. Audio works flawlessly, picture is amazing, and the new guy is great! I've installed Sharkey's 007 Vista Codec Pack and it works well. There's the odd movie that doesn't want to play, but it's no big deal. I really like that I could add my movies and HD movies folders to the "Movies" category and they showed up! Plus any of my movie files that were encoded with a DD 5.1 audio track, actually play with the DD 5.1 audio.

I just wish I could set boxart for each of my movies, and access subtitles and audio tracks for any mkv's or AVI's that I have. That'd be nice, but no big deal. If necessairy, I'll just minimize WMC and play the track using WMP and set the audio/subtitle that way.

Amazon Taking Preorder for Asus Eee PC 1005HA with User Replaceable Battery

Posted 06/22/2009 at 01:24:30pm

I'm a tad confused. Was there a model of Eee PC where the battery was in an unaccessable location? I've got about 6 Eee PC 1002HA's at work, and they all have a battery that can be removed (and replaced as long as an appropriate part can be located).

In fact, most laptops, the user can replace the battery. You're usually charged through the nose for a new one, but it's as simple as sliding a lock and pulling the battery out...
