Netflix to Expand its Reach to the PS3
Posted 10/27/2009 at 11:10:13am
This is awesome. Right now I've got my linux based media center running XP via VirtualBox just so I can get at Netflix content. Its not a fun or pretty hack, so this is great news.
How-To: Install Ubuntu and Linux Apps on Your PlayStation 3
Posted 04/01/2009 at 10:15:11am
Thanks for the article - I've been trying to decide if i *need* a PS3 and the fact that getting it to run Linux is so easy is helping to seal the deal.
Once small error (I think?), you said "Gnome goes for a cleaner look and a more sparse desktop approach, catered more for the typical user. XFCE shoots more for the higher-end minutia detail-driven crowd" but I think that's flipped.
In my experience at least XFCE is the super clean, super sparse desktop and Gnome the one with more eye candy.
Thanks for the article!
Linux: Fedora 10 Now Available
Posted 02/19/2009 at 08:36:53am
I love the improved startup / shutdown times in Fedora 10. Most of the other changes are small evolutionary steps forward in polish and usability. Happily running it on my home desktop (x86_64), work laptop (x32) and work desktop with no issues. My previous complaints with x86_64 support are no longer, as flash and Java now work great in 32 *and* 64 bit modes.
Way to go Fedora!

Dropbox went from 'interesting' to 'awesome' once I realized it has a linux client too! Thanks so much for pointing it out.
Mortal OS Kombat: Linux versus Windows 7

Nah, just ssh or vnc into Gran's linux box and fix it for her w/o her even having to fiddle with LogMeIn Free - much simpler.
Maximum Linux: Open talk about open source
Posted 05/31/2007 at 07:49:40am
I'm really excited to see more linux information creeping into Maximum PC. I loved the 'how to' article and have long wished for a "works with linux" flag for the hardware that you review. Do you think that indicating a product will work with linux would ever make it into the magazine?
