Here’s Why Windows Vista No Longer Matters

Posted 10/27/2008 at 04:38:21pm

....and they'll say the same thing about Windows 7 when it comes out!  ...who are "they"?? Well, "They" are the idiots that jump on the "I HATE XP/Vista/Any Microsoft product of the moment even though I have no idea what I'm talking about and or never even used the product" bandwagon!

People said the same tired crap about XP that they did about Vista and NOTHING is going to change when the so called savior, Windows 7 is released IN TWO YEARS!

Let them stubbornly clutch their aging XP, they will ALL upgrade sooner or later! Hahaha!

WINDOWS MOJAVI in FULL EFFECT!

Chinese Pirates Angry Over Microsoft’s Blackout Anti-Piracy Tool

Posted 10/23/2008 at 04:40:46pm

People who bought copies of software in China only to find that it was illigitimate can tke their quarrels to the people that sold it to them. NOT to Microsoft.

Just like their poisoned milk fiasco, don't blame the cow that made the milk. Blame the dairy farmers that poisoned it and sold it!

As for the pirates, the heck with 'em. Let them suffer. They belong in jail!

This attorney obviously isn't thinking before speaking. Microsoft isnt intruding or hacking. They are on the offense..and they are winning for a change! Go Microsoft Go!

AMD Announces Sub-$150 HD 4830 Graphics Card Running DX10.1

Posted 10/23/2008 at 03:03:41pm

After squeezing every living drop of jaw dropping performance from my 7300 gt (a VERY under rated card), I decided it was time to fight back the lag on my MMO ventures and up my video card again.

I know Nvidia has lost a lot of favor the past few months, but that didn't sway me from picking up my 9600 gt superclocked card from EVGA. $89. I'm cheap and happy to admit it.

I bought a $400, 4300 gt when it came out back in the day and even though the card rocked my sox, I vowed never to lay down that kind of coin for a card again. I'm happy to stay in the $100 range and happy to wait for the $400 and $600 cards to fall into my bracket (they always do!). Besides, benchmarks are great for my 1280x1024 resolution I run at on my 19" lcd. I'm not running 24" widescreens and have no immediate plans to do so. I get insane frame rates that meet and exceed all the benchmarks that are being made at resolutions higher than that on bigger monitors. So keep your monitor size in mind when really looking over all those benchmarks and see if they really apply to the resolution your realistically going to use! You might be very surprised at the coin you can save! I certainly was!  :)

Maybe by the time I'm ready to upgrade again, the AMD ATI marriage will be a bit more polished. ATI still has a lot of catching up to do, but they are doing a damn good job of it.  Better shape up and right your wrongs, NVidia!

Don't make me have to get my Nvidia tattoo covered up with a big ATI logo!

Beyond Ultramon: Free Software Solutions for Multiple Monitors

Posted 10/23/2008 at 10:23:17am

I have a cool anime picture that comes in two halfs. Each fits perfectly on each monitor and it looks like one huge picture across my two 19" lcd's. Absolutely gorgeous.

Display fusion doesn't use much system resources either.

I do have a question for the gamers though....

How can I get Warhammer online to utilize both monitors so I can have all the UI buttons on one screen and the main screen on the other?? I can only get the game screen to fit 1 1/4th of the screens displays. Very annoying. I've seen the pictures of others that have done it, so I'd like to know what they used in terms of software.

Thanks :P

Exclusive: Oil Immersion Cooling Goes Mainstream with Hardcore PC's Reactor

This is SICK! (In the good sense of the word)

I'd imagine changing components would be a messy task. And once you dip those components, I'd imagine your warranty would be null and void.

Think of the phone call to tech support:

 ring ring...

Tech support: Hello, Nvidia tech support. How can I help you?

User: Hi, my video card is not working.

Tech support: ..hmm, could you take it out and reseat it?

User: ...well, I'd rather not. I dont want to get all the oil it is soaked in on my moms carpet. ...

'audible click'

User:...hello? ...um..hello?

But then again if you have $4 grand to throw away on a system like this, WHO CARES ABOUT WARRANTIES! Haha!

Two New Classes Blazing to Warhammer Online in December

Posted 10/20/2008 at 12:06:30pm

Competition is good, but the comparisons are getting tired.

People have to paint one as evil and the other good. It's so tiring and pointless.

The asthetic and game play elements are quite different. The feel of the two games is different. It's all about personal taste. WAR with all the RVR, PVP, PQ's and doom and gloom appeals to me. WOW with it's RAID oriented play and colorful worlds does not appeal to me. But I gave it a fair shake and I walked away having nothing but good things to say.

Even though I'm sold on WAR, I would not discredit one for the other.

Microsoft Unveils the Official Name for "Windows 7"

Posted 10/15/2008 at 10:21:22am

If you think Vista is slow and crashes all the time, your probably running it on a shaky system or perhaps it's all the other garbage running in the background such as Bittorrent, AOL instant messenger etc that people love to use. ESPECIALLY if you UPGRADED your XP machine instead of doing a clean install! In my day to day job, I can't begin to tell you all the garbage I remove from peoples start up folders alone! They simply don't understand the toll that some third party TSR type apps can take on a systems overall performance.

Try an experiment for yourself.. Take your pc and start with a clean Vista install and refrain from loading third party apps, especially TSR memory hogs and I bet you'll find a totally different experience. I say start with a clean install because you'll want to avoid bring over the garbage apps that might already be running on an XP machine during an upgrade. Without a CLEAN INSTALL, you CANNOT give Vista a fair judgement. Let alone ANY os!  Run the clean Vista os for at least two weeks before starting to load your usual apps that start up with the OS (you know, all those icons in the task tray next to the clock!). As you load each of them, watch as your performance changes. See! It's NOT Vista!  The OS is fine. It's all the other apps that people conveniently don't mention they're also running when they bad mouth Vista.

I'm not picking fights here. I'm just saying that your cheating yourself out of a good OS by drinking the Anti Vista kool aid. Think about what people are NOT telling you when they say it stinks. Mac users say Vista stinks, but they wouldn't know a good OS if it slapped them across the face!

  Make your own conclusions

Peace
