More Maybe-Screenshots of Google's Chrome OS Surface
Posted 09/01/2009 at 11:45:08am
This went well. Like some of you mentioned, every OS has its place. I don't really dislike linux, and I do use it at my company for servers. I was mearly stating facts. Some people use it, but windows is still the standard os of choice. As much as people complain about it, they still don't see any other alternatives. For the google os it will almost certainlyhave webdocs, which covers the basic word editing and everything else the office suite can do. I don't think it will ever replace windows, but for something lite, that can have the option to boot into windows for more advanced tasks, It hink it would work out really well.

I know this will cause a lot of debate, but I think a simple Os done right could become very popular. So far there's the mac os which is great from what everyone says, but it's limited to macs. There's windows, which is good, but no one can say its simple. It is bloated and huge. Startup takes forever, and shitdown takes just as long. Then there's linux, which is so terrible they can't even give it away. (really they can't)
If they keep this os simple I can't wait to try it. Most of my time on computers at work is researching on the internet, and reading up documents. Maybe make it a extemely quick startup, where you can do the most basic of tasks which 90% of the population use their computers for, then have the option to boot into windows if you want to do more complex things.

It's probably a real robot. With the way 3d tricks the eyes to apear like it's coming out at you, a camera can't pick up these tricks.
The robot in the middle was probably the 3d one.
How-To: Get Rid of Bloatware on Your New Laptop
Posted 04/15/2009 at 11:50:51am
I agree Acronis is a great company with a great software, but us computer people are very frugal when it comes to buying asoftware and would search to no end for a free solution. Also $50 for a program you will likely only use once for a backup is expensive enough, when you just scrimped and saved to finally get your new laptop.
I wish I had a example, but I don't have time to search and find a decent one to recomend, but I imagine there's a whole bunch of them that would work well enough to get the task done.

Very good writup.
Just couple questions. How durable is the Vellum material. Would it work in a school environment, or would it get destroyed? Also I notice in the video you can see it moving around as you drag your fingers on the screen. Would it be possible to use a lite glue layer after the silicone to make it stick to the acrylic to stay in place, but still have the same affect since the silicone layer would still be there?
Asus' Redesigned Eee PC 1002HA Netbook is Slimmer and Lighter

Those 3 and 6 cell batteries are just normal batteries. (think of a C cell) which are really cheap and a much older technology.
The one in this one is a lithium polymer (lipo) which are smaller and provide a much higher capacity. For a idea, look at the battery in your cell phone.
I've been waiting for a netbook to have one of these batteries so it can remain small and have a decent run time.

In the review can you check if the firmware will be upgradable to include new, and updated codec's for the future.
Also I see people complaining about the lack of network support already. A simple solution might just be a usb network adapter, since one of the 2 usb ports can be spared.
MSI Wind Invities Overclocking with BIOS Update

I'm sure at least 1/4 of the people buying these netboooks are geeks. I bought one just to mess around with and I love. Still don't have a actual use for it, but I still love it.
I'm also sure a good part of those geeks would overclock their wristwatchs if given the chance, Hats off to msi for being the first, and maybe a slight overclock would be extremely safe while getting significant gains. I use my mostly for browsing the net, and it can be slow at times.

Yay. The size of SP3 is the same size as XP is on cd, and the cd even has some useless stuff on it.
