Newspaper Tracks Down Anonymous Commenter, Gets Him Fired Just for Fun
Posted 11/19/2009 at 12:38:28pm
Well, this might get me fired, but I think that the newspaper should absolutely have tracked the guy down. Then, instead of getting him fired, the author of the article should have waited in the parking lot outside the dude's work at closing time and challenged him to a duel. That duel should have been posted on YouTube and on the paper's website.
If a simple clause were added to the privacy agreement on websites that said someting like: "If you act like an idiot on our boards, we will hunt you down and kick your ass, and then put it on YouTube", I think you would get a lot fewer morons and not so many lude comments.
Of course, MaxPC staff probably would have visited my house a couple times by now, too.

Study Finds 48% of Americans Willing to Pay for Online News
Posted 11/16/2009 at 05:43:54pm
I would pay $20/month for real news from around the world, delivered by unbiased sources with verifiable sources and stories about things that matter. In other words, not FOX 'News'. Video + Radio + text all in one place would be great and worth paying for. The biggest problem with almost all of the newspapers now is that they want to limit the news they provide people, then charge for it. Censorship (even covert censorship - here's looking at you, NY Times) is a hard sell, and I won't pay for it.

Microsoft has Patented "sudo." Yes, the Command

Ok, does anyone disagree with the fact that to work in the US patent office you have to be an idiot? Cause if those people are using their heads for anything other than keeping their ears from smashing together, I haven't seen it recently.
Software patents should not exist (like ABBA and deep-fried snickers, they are just too dangerous).

Sprint Shares Fall after S&P Warning
Posted 11/12/2009 at 11:58:44am
Misplaced- this is in response to the comments below.
Ok, you three either work for Sprint, or are completely delusional, IMHO. Totally outrageous price structures, idiotic customer service reps who don't know the difference between a phone and a donut, and spotty cell service. If Sprint goes out of business, I will throw a house party. I switched to T-mobile and got twice the service for half the cost.
Murphy's Law: Gaming? Open? Ha!
Posted 11/11/2009 at 03:54:06pm
Mr. Murphy, you don't have an MBA, do you? That is your problem. If you DID have an MBA (and therefore absolutely no soul) then you wouldn't waste your time writing a letter to the total A-holes who run the gaming companies (with their MBAs).
Props to you, Mr. Murphy, for this article - I couldn't agree with you more. Too bad it won't change anything.

Love MWF 1, but #2 is starting to look like a giant steaming pile of... #2. No touchy. I can spend $60 on something better.
