College Student Hauled Off for Hacking Game Consoles
Posted 08/15/2009 at 01:18:07am
I would expect to read this coming out of the ex-Soviet block countries, but come on this is the USA.
Well they said after 9-11 that our lives would never be the same and I guess this article pretty much proves that.
This is a little over the top for my tastes and someone has to say enough is enough.
Enough! all ready!
Pirate Bay Trials Sails into Swedish Court Today
Posted 02/16/2009 at 08:31:11pm
It's sad that intellectual property is pirated in the first place, but remain it to say that it does happen.
I personally don't condone the act of piracy, but it's going to happen in today's electronic age. The sad part is you can close down Pirate's Bay, but two more will pop-up tomorrow.
P2P downloading is almost a given. People no more feel guilty about downloading music or movies, than they do when they do 80 mph in a 65 mph zone. It just happens guilt free...doesn't say much for society, does it?
Six Essential Steps to Diagnosing and Curing a Slow Startup

Hackman...you need to re-read the article. It points out that you don't want to disable any of the MS services.
AT&T One-Ups Comcast with 20GB (not 120GB) Bandwidth Cap

Many of us are fortunate enough to have options, which allows us to vote with our dollars. If you feel you're not getting what you pay for, then change. Or, if you feel you're being strangled with restrictions, as the article implies, Change!
The article did state it was only a test market. Let's hope that the folks in Reno are not all asleep at the switch and raise holy hell. If enough complain, maybe it'll be abondoned.
Also, we can only hope that the companies (Netflix, Blockbuster, ...) trying to get their online movie downloads up and running will have something to say about this also, as it will definitely affect them.
Time will tell and will open a market for those companies that don't restrict your downloads.
Beware of Mail-in-Rebates (Seriously this Time)
Posted 11/17/2008 at 05:41:45pm
If a retailer has to use rebates to capture my hard earned dollars, then he's failed. I've been burned countless times by rebates and rebate companies. If you can't offer an instant rebate, then count me out.
Classmates.com Sued by Unpopular Man
Posted 11/13/2008 at 07:39:36pm
This is great! I got duped by the same email. I had friends that were supposedly trying to contact me. Then I discover that unless they are members also, we cannot email one another. Or, will they forward my email to them, unless they are a member.
That membership didn't last long. I dropped Classmates.com like a hot potato!
See, good does prevail.
Blizzard Wants Your Mom To Enjoy StarCraft II
Posted 10/31/2008 at 04:55:41pm
Starcraft 2? There's a Starcraft 2? Wow, have I been out of that loop or is this just what they plan on doing with it before it's released? I knew they were working on it, so when was it released or will it be released? Boy, is this overdue!
Here’s Why Windows Vista No Longer Matters
Posted 10/30/2008 at 04:12:24pm
When I see articles like this I can only think that the end user is the one that will really suffer, due to the complacent attitude of the manufacturer.
I've had Vista for almost a year on my new laptop and must say that the problems have been minimal and easy to work around. SP1 really improved the OS and I'm very pleased with it overall.
I just wish the UAC was easier to override.
Am I looking forward to Windows 7? Not if it means that Vista is going to take a back seat in the meantime.

Royal Digital Media Announces 100GB/Disc Blu-ray Killer, Supports 1920p
Posted 10/30/2008 at 03:06:32pm
Finally a product that's not going to break the bank, hopefully!
Yeah, if I were Sony, I'd be concerned.
Either that or the price of Blu-rays will drop dramatically if this new product is priced as predicted.
