Dell 2408WFP
Posted 08/29/2008 at 05:38:24pm
I absolutely agree with uberdork's comment. I too had the DELL 2005 20" lcd. It was amazing; true colors; and rich blacks. I bought the 2408 and was miserable. I paid $679 (excluding tax) and I was absolutely disappointed. My eyes weren't adjusting at all with the panel. The colors are abysmal to say the least using a pc (ATI AIW X1900 videocard.
Besides this important flaw. The lcd in fact is amazing using a PS3 and using the HDMI connection. Amazing Blu Ray movies. I cannot say anythign bad about gaming on a console...but it will take you some time to get adjusted to using it with a pc. It took some time to get used to, and I was not willing to go through the hassel of a refund or exchange.
I have sucked it up and now a little comfortable with it- still colors are off, but I guess my eyes just got used to it. It shouldn't be like this for a $679 product. As much as I hate dell pcs, I do like their lcds a lot. The panel is sophisticated and clean. I like the added input features that Dell tends to employ.
So best of luck to everyone!
It's Official - Comcast Announces 250GB/Month Bandwidth Cap

STFU PLEASE!
It is utter nonsense both sides are providing regarding the reasons why comcast's decisions is good or bad.
If you dont like it stop the service. It doesnt matter if you have any other service providers available. When I was sick of the wireless phone services by AT&T getting worse, I just reduced the plan and as soon as my contract is up, service will be closed.
I understand life now is dependent on technology, but take a stand with your wallet. Enough said! Their lower revenue will promopt them to do the "right" thing. Right being a perspective of each person making comments on the matter.

Choose Your Poison: Justin Long or Jerry Seinfeld as OS Pitchman

Western Digital Announces 48 Percent Increase in Revenues

Why are the cheaper raptors disappearing?
All the 36GB & 74GB raptors seems to be disappearing from etailers. Is this just because of limited supply or Western Digital is concentrating on higher capacity and pricers raptors!
Back From the Dead: AMD Resurrects ATI's All-In-Wonder Series
Posted 06/27/2008 at 04:46:23pm
Well it's about damn time they did!
I have had pretty much all the AIW cards in the past, and they were absolutely great for those who wanted to play moderately but had the desire to use their pc as a PVR.
The only thing that they need to fix though this time around is driver support, and the abysmal scheduled recording with Gemstar Guide+ & MMC. They never recorded properly with the very last generation- the AIW X1900.
So if ATI (sorry i prefer ATI rather than ATI/AMD) does decide to serve up a higher end card for the AIW line, and the pricing and software are good..well then they got theirselves the faithful AIW users of yesterdays!
Keep in mind however they are pricing it at $199 with the AIW 3650 HD...while the AIW X1900 price was $499..and for that time that card kicked some arse!
*rant ended*
Complimentary Guided Tour of the New Website
Posted 06/25/2008 at 05:45:22pm
Finally! After 2 years of losing interest in Maximum PC's magazine subscription and the website, I can say I am hooked again.
You guys have done a great job on this overhaul of the previous website that was just miserable mess. Sorry being honest- I critize because I used to love your publication and what you guys had to say regarding tech. In recent times you lost my respect (perhaps many others') with the repetitive articles and news.
I sincerely commend you on this new website, and the PDF Archive of your magazine is just an absolute icing on the cake of this overhaul. I hope other techsites (who have print publications) do this. As you know even newspapers have finally realized a paid subscription online just doesnt work. I AND MANY OTHERS WILL NOT PAY NOR WISH TO LOG IN TO GET NEWS! ITS DUMB!
Keep this website format as long as you can please. I hope no "genius" at Maximum PC decides try new things. At this point the website is near perfection!
