Windows 7 Activation Bypassed (Yes Again) for Keyless Activation

Posted 11/15/2009 at 02:58:12pm

I updated my BIOS and had to call in. This was a day after installing WIN 7. Then a week later I changed my video card, that time all I had to do was just an internet activation. (By the way, my spell checker is catching stuff in the main body, but not the subject line. Why?)

Nvidia Ends Quarter on a High Note, Revenue Up

I just had to return a Nvidia card because it Blue Screened Win 7. Sad because I had been using Nvidia for the past ten or so years. Now I am using their competitor.

The FCC Isn't Joking about Internet Regulation

Posted 10/22/2009 at 07:37:15pm

Internet is not free. Even in those cities that have "free internet" what is that costing the taxpayer? Hotels and coffee shops have "free internet" what does that do to the price of a room or cup of java? If Con-cast has to provide the same level of service to someone torrenting to their cell phone as to me having diarrhea of the keyboard on some blog, how are they going to make up the costs? Is the government going to step in and freeze prices? Nixon tried that, we all know his place in history. I thought I paid too much for my internet until it broke. The cable guy came out to my place, took out all the old crappy wire that had rotted, put in brand new wire, stayed around to make sure it worked to my satisfaction, and then turned down the adult beverage that I offered for his hard work. I was not charged for any of the time and material. Also my bill hasn't gone up in four years.

No config menu. Could not paste a color as transparent. MS Paint is the superior program. Sadly.

The Pros and Cons of 64-bit Windows 7

The upgrade boxes come with two disks, one 32 and one 64. Someone whom justs opens email and watch YouTube will probably get confused and insert one disk, and then the next. Probably, after loading the second disk, they will probably get red flagged from MS because the user already activated the first install. Same CD key for both. How many people actually read the instructions? Admittedly I don't, but I've read about them online. So, how many are going see the lines that say back up your information? Especially those going from XP to 7? Or those that slide in the 764 disk on top of Vista 32? Personally, I think MS should do what they did with XP, and what Apple does every few years: force the upgrade to newer platform. I needs to happen. Heck, even Leisure Suit Larry works on 764.

The Pros and Cons of 64-bit Windows 7

Posted 10/19/2009 at 07:38:52pm

I wrote that I was having problems with legacy apps and that XP Mode sucked. XP Mode still sucks, but I overcame the apps issue. I was going to keep an XP box going at the same time, but I don't think I'll need one. I have a laptop just in case. 64 VS 32. I've been running XP 64 for about a year, while there are some issues. Most are ignorable. My printer works fine, though I have never tested on Win 7 64. I have a Compaq test system and the weird thing is that Vista 64 drivers don't work; but the drivers for extra components like the soundcard do work. I don't do any heavy app stuff, the newest game I have is Rosenkreuz Stilette and it seems to run better under 764 than XP. I'm going with 764, that's what I've been testing, and that's what going to allow me to run my hardware and software at optimal optimus level.

The IAB Thinks the FTC's rules for Regulating Bloggers are Unfair and Unconstitutional

Maybe it's not a bad idea. We just saw how some guy in his mommy's basement got the entire old media into a tizzy by putting some false information into wickedpedia.

That they get signaled out like this? I don't see the FTC going after ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, New York Times, LA Times, or the Washington Times like this. I think it's a reaction to one too many instances of some guy in his mommy's basement getting famous because he did the job the old media used to do.
