Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB

Posted 10/23/2009 at 11:34:18am

I had to scroll down a while but I finally found someone who had the same thought run through their head, its a 2 TB 7200 rpm drive, whats not to love? Other than the fact that it can't beat a Velociraptor random writes... Really? I'll take the extra 1.5 TB of storage for the couple milliseconds I have to wait for it to find that long lost piece of Scrubs Season 1.

Also love the comment about how they didn't call it Extreme, made me chuckle

Release Notes: I Am Not, Nor Have I Ever Been, a Fanboy

Posted 10/21/2009 at 12:53:03am

I agree with Goose on this one, the only real fanboy I consider myself is an Apple-hater... And I don't even hate Apple products, I do own a iTouch (gasp). But what I do hate is the poeple that love Apple for no other reason than because its supposed to be the hip thing. They have no idea that their computers these days are pretty much PC's hardware with a nice cover. Like a spoiler on an El Camino, just because you think it looks cool doesn't mean its better. But I will let that be for now... until another time.

Not Sure How You Feel Today? Ask the Facebook National Happiness Index

Posted 10/13/2009 at 12:17:19am

I would say that since you have 'not' and 'happy' they would count that as a negative... and this really isn't that complex of code either you would just have to parse the string (your status) looking for a space as a delimiter and then looking for key words... and either way its just cool to see that around holidays and big events that this algorithm produces happier results.. makes me believe there is some truth to it

Windows 7 Retail Boxes Start Arriving in Preparation for Launch Day

Posted 10/04/2009 at 07:12:20pm

I've been running Windows 7 Pro for about a month now, I got it through my college's computer engineering MSDNAA account. It's pretty solid, I have had no problems with it, other than a few very fixable compatability issues, which were easily fixed by the XP mode. It blows Vista and, dare I say it, XP away. If you are planning on doing a simple upgrade though, please make sure you back up your drivers as I had a video card driver go astray from my upgrade. Other than that its real simple and I'm planning on getting the retail copy for my other computer on Oct 22!

Confickers Master Plan Revealed - Spam & Spyware… How Anticlimactic!

Posted 04/27/2009 at 03:18:03pm

All very good points, but I think your last one is the best. People need to realize that it shouldn't fall just on the hands of their anti-virus or adware/malware detection software to catch every piece of crap that comes from the Internet. I don't know how many computer's I've cleaned and asked when things started to go wrong and people say, well it told me i won so i clicked on it...Hmmm

RealDVD Ripping Software Trial is Underway

Posted 04/27/2009 at 03:08:49pm

With the legislation against the Pirate Bay only a couple weeks old the courts are now trying to move quick and hard to remove the rest of our digital liberties. Now if I go out and buy a DVD and I want to make a back up of that movie, why shouldn't I be allowed? I legally obtained a copy and yet I am still made to go the route of RealDVD or AnyDVD to back up my movies. If nothing else these DRM schemes make someone want to pirate more so they can get an unemcumbered piece of video. I don't know how much more it will take before even the die hard DRM people will finally say enough is enough. Hell even iTunes got the picture...

Microsoft's New Ad Campaign: Owning a Mac in a Recession is Totally Uncool

Posted 04/06/2009 at 12:37:25pm

I'm sure I speak for a lot of PC users when I say we don't totally dislike Macs. We are just tired of fanboys flaunting their Macs around and saying they are better than PC's without any facts to back it up. I will agree OS X is probably one of the best operating systems I have used, it is only rivaled by the new Windows 7. So I hope and pray I am defending someone who actually uses their mind and doesn't blindly follow the Mac "revolution".
