Cray Takes Back Supercomputer Crown

Do a search on Los Alamos and Oak Ridge, that should give you a pretty good idea of what they are doing with all those flops.  I can say with some inside knowledge they are not running benchmarks...wink, wink.

Windows 7 OEM EULA Excludes Home Builds not for Resale

Posted 11/16/2009 at 10:41:29am

The way I read this, and I admit that I am not a lawyer, is this.  I build my own machines and I use OEM software to do so.  In this, I am the system builder and I am my own tech support and in full compliance with the EULA.  I can even sell said machine to whoever I want and am still in full compliance.

The only way for me to get into trouble is if I buy the OEM from Newegg, then turn around and sell just the software to someone, or if I bout the OEM to upgrade a stock Dell, or HP machine.

Chill out. Sheesh.

How To: Properly Clean Your PC

Posted 10/29/2009 at 10:01:35am

I don't mean to wave the smart-ass flag here, but you should never allow a fan to spin while cleaning your PC.  Remember a fan is essentially a power generator when it spins backwards.  If you allow the fan to spin it can create a back-charge and could damage components.  Just a word of caution.

Analysts Predict PC Makers Will Look to Expand to Smartphones

If the phones pictured above are the real thing then they are manufactured by Samsung and Acer is slapping their logo on it.  The "Inspire" pictured on the left, is in fact, a Samsung Instinct that has been offered by Sprint for quite a while, I've had mine for over a year now. Yawn...

The Pros and Cons of 64-bit Windows 7

Posted 10/20/2009 at 08:05:26am

Just be careful who you listen to.  The masses say that Win 7 rocks (myself included).  Sure there will be issues, but the vast majority of the responses have been very positive.  Just beware of the MS haters out there that couldn't be happy if it were free and tucked them into bed at night.

And what do you call Snow Leopard if not a Service Pack? They didn't even change the default wallpaper!

There is a big difference between the super-secret "Longhorn" project and the semi-open release of 7 as a beta almost eleven months ago.  Almost every major hardware producer already sports fully supported Win7 32 and 64 bit drivers on their support pages.  All IT departments that are worth their salt have already been testing 7 in the enterprise environment since the beta release.  The adoption has already begun.
