How Hot is Too Hot?

I can understand the theory behind the principle, however in real life does it really matter, I am not talking about 20 and 30 degrees difference, than I can see the point. I Have an Athlon XP 2600+ with 512 MB of Ram (do not feel sorry for me, I am in the process of upgrading, unless you want to send me money, than go ahead feel my pain) I owned the system for five years, during the last two and a half, I have been doing "Distributing Computing" 24 hours a day seven days a week and the software is using 95 percent of my CPU. The P.C. is still running fine. So why should I spend and extra $85 for a better cooler? Also on my next system I will be using Sata hard drive, is it true that Window XP does not use the full potential of Sata. Than you.
